JOB SUMMARY Summer: Our Bus Drivers are responsible for the safe transportation of school-age children and camp staff to and from field trips and Park District swimming pool locations. Routes will be both local (Schaumburg/Hoffman Estates) and surrounding areas within a one-hour radius. School Year: Our Bus Drivers are responsible for the safe transportation of school-age children from their elementary school (School District 54 schools) to one of two park district recreation center locations for after school care and programming. QUALIFICATIONS: Qualified applicants must be at least 21 years of age with a current Class B CDL with passenger and air brake endorsement and have a valid DOT medical card. The best applicants will be dependable, flexible and appreciate the diversity of school age children and adults. Strong communication skills are important to effectively interact with children, adults and people with disabilities. Must have sufficient dexterity to operate wheelchair lift. SCHEDULING & PAY: These are Monday through Friday positions averaging 15-20 hours a week during the school year and 25-30 hours during the summer. School Year Schedule: Children must be picked up by 3:00 pm (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, & Fridays) and by 2:30 pm on Wednesdays. Drivers are to be available for various field trips, half day programs, and Winter and Spring Break programs throughout each school year. Drivers are guaranteed three hours of pay per shift. The starting pay is $21.00 / hour. Drivers will have the opportunity for extra shifts for special events throughout the year.
