Pros of working at Schlumberger

The busy atmosphere can be challenging and there is never a shortage of work.

Cons of working at Schlumberger

Management likes to make empty promises to their top performing employees to keep them engaged. They also only care about the college degree you have meaning if you have potential, what it takes to move up, a great work ethic but don't have a Bachelors degree you will never move up within the company unless you are part of the "click/in crowd".

Pros of working at Schlumberger

Schlumberger is the oil industry's most diverse company where everyone feels home, has the best training for new grads, hires the most competent and self motivated people, has an environment where continuous learning is inherent, is technically the best, has many opportunities to see the world and encourages doing so through transfers and/or travel, generously rewards hard work, and on and on. I truly enjoy working here.

Cons of working at Schlumberger

Oil industry has its cycles. When the times are good (higher oil prices and higher activity), things are really good; and when the times are bad, things are really bad. By their nature, service companies are a lot more prone to workforce reduction when times are bad; i.e., nothing unique to Schlumberger but service industry in general.

Schlumberger benefits

Travelling around the world, being rewarded for taking initiatives.
