Essential duties and responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to: Design project components using AutoCAD Civil 3D and other industry-standard software. Complete calculations using engineering formulas and skills and/or utilizes computers in order to solve problems Research and prepare material specifications, installation guidelines, and inspection protocols. Work to complete design details and plan sets Complete field observation, inspection and data collection duties as directed by senior engineering staff Collaborate with client staff and internal design team as directed by senior engineering staff Contribute to cost estimates and technical reports that drive project success. Timmons Group is seeking a Civil Project Engineer II/III - Traffic Analysis and Planning candidate to join our Traffic Analysis and Planning Group located in our Charlottesville, VA office location. Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to: Complete operational analysis, corridor studies, traffic studies, innovative intersection implementation, traffic calming, and safety analysis; Bicycle/pedestrian/multi-modal feasibility, analysis, design, and implementation; Complete calculations using engineering formulas and skills and/or utilizes computers in order to solve problems; Perform research and writes objective summary reports which are used in the completion of the project work; Assist in the preparation of engineering planning schedules and cost estimates Complete field observation, inspection, and data collection dutie Communicate with client staff and internal design team; and Communicate results/recommendations to the general public. Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to: A bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field Ideal candidates would have between two and six years of experience in Transportation / Traffic Engineering and Planning Synchro/SIDRA/HCS proficiency is essential Knowledge of Traffic Analyses, Planning Studies, Traffic Safety, Traffic Forecasting, Traffic Signal Design, ITS Design, and/or Traffic Signal Timing is preferred Bicycle/pedestrian/multi-modal project experience preferred Basic CAD and/or GIS knowledge preferred Experience working with DOT and/or localities; and PE/EIT preferred.
