Job Title: Mechanical Engineering Intern - Manufacturing Location: Gasser Chair Company Plant Job Type: Internship (Full-Time/Part-Time) Duration: Summer 2025 Department: Manufacturing Engineering Reports To: Director of Engineering --- About the Role: We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our manufacturing engineering team. This role offers hands-on experience supporting production processes, equipment optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives. As an intern, you'll work alongside experienced engineers to solve real manufacturing challenges and gain valuable exposure to lean manufacturing, process design, and plant operations. --- Key Responsibilities: · Assist in designing, testing, and implementing mechanical systems and process improvements on the production floor. · Support continuous improvement efforts through time studies, root cause analysis, and efficiency audits. · Participate in the design and development of jigs, fixtures, and tooling to enhance manufacturing performance. · Help maintain and update technical documentation such as process instructions, CAD drawings, and equipment manuals. · Collaborate with maintenance, quality, and production teams to identify and resolve operational issues. · Collect and analyze production data to identify trends and recommend improvements. · Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards in all tasks. --- Qualifications: · Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. · Solid understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals. · Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and Microsoft Office tools. · Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. · Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. · Eagerness to learn and contribute to a team-oriented setting. ---VISA SPONSOSHIP NOT AVAILABLE. --- Preferred Qualifications: · Coursework or prior experience in manufacturing processes, industrial engineering, or lean systems. · Familiarity with Six Sigma or lean manufacturing principles. · Hands-on experience with machining, assembly, or fabrication (through labs, projects, or previous internships).
