Follows all road laws, rules and regulations as it pertains to the area. Utilizes hands free adapter at all times when mobile devices are required.
Performs vehicle pre-trip and post trip inspections. Reports incidents, safety hazards and maintenance requirements immediately to supervisor and follows-up to ensure corrective measures were taken. Ensures that vehicles are stocked and fueled. Maintains cleanliness of vehicles, both inside and out.

Definition
Under general supervision of the transportation supervisor, is responsible for safely operating a school bus to transport students to and from school; performs related duties as required.

Performs pre-trip inspections of the bus at the beginning of each day and post trips at the end of each shift.
Monitors and maintains proper student behavior while students are on the bus.
Meets with school personnel, parents, and students regarding student discipline situations;

Reports to the Transportation Supervisor traffic conditions that may be a safety hazard for the bus or students;
Communicates with the transportation office and other drivers by two-way radio;

Empties trash, sweeps and washes windows and mirrors on the bus;
Drives field trips as bid or assigned;
Completes pre-trip inspection sheets, report of violation of school bus red light sheets, route sheets, route books, incident reports, left/right turn sheets and other reports as necessary and /or required by the transportation supervisor.
May secure preschool and handicapped students on the bus;
May operate a lift device to load and unload students in wheel chairs;
May train new personnel in school bus operation.
Attend and/or complete all required training, pre-service, route bid and in- service as directed by the Transportation Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
Three (3) years of experience as a licensed motor vehicle operator;
Possession of a valid Ohio Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B with School Bus Passenger (SP) endorsement; ·
Passage of the annual physical and drug testing requirements mandated by the state of Ohio;
Meet all standards required by the Ohio Department of Education and the State of Ohio.

Bus Drivers - Transportation Building
This person will work a minimum 6 hours per day and will be paid as per salary schedule. Persons applying for this position must have a CDL Class B License with School Bus endorsement along with a high school diploma or GED.
If you do not have a CDL Class B License with School Bus endorsement, we offer free training with a certified on board instructor. Training will provide the skills to obtain Class B CDL with school bus and passenger endorsement. The instructor will work around the trainee's schedule to accommodate training, including nights and weekends. The trainee will initially pay for the temporary permit, CDL testing, and CDL license. The initial cost is approximately $125.00. Upon successful completion of testing and is officially hired, those costs are reimbursed to the trainee. The only non-reimbursed cost to the trainee is the cost of the fingerprinting. The trainee has the potential to work as a substitute bus aide while being trained.

Attends safety meetings as directed.
Administers necessary first aid in case of accident.
Does evacuation and safety drills on their bus routes.
Performs such other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor/designee.
