Non-Exempt Position Part-Time (9 months) Hourly Job Summary Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic School is seeking a part-time bus driver for the 2025-26 school year to drive and maintain our bus. The successful candidate would be capable of providing transportation of our OLSOS students back and forth from school and local selected destinations. Candidates should have a CDL license with the ability to drive passengers. If a prospective candidate does not possess this certification, the school will consider the applicants qualities to pay for this endorsement as well the hours accrued during this training. Responsibilities and Duties Drive Bus for morning/afternoon routes, Monday-Friday 6:30 to 8:30am and then again 3:15pm to 5:15 pm with a guarantee of 4 hours each day plus more if required. Drive the bus on an as-needed basis for activities. Keep daily attendance records of students transported on the bus and safely transport passengers. Maintain professional behavior while driving the bus and avoid all distractions to ensure the safety of students. Communicate effectively with students (K-8 th ) regarding procedures, best practices, expected behaviors including enforcing consequences when needed Follow the planned route and schedule for departure times and stops. Participate in extra bus runs as needed. Inspect the vehicle thoroughly before and after each trip. Maintain and monitor the service of the bus including regular filling of gas, oil changes and other servicing tasks. Regularly check vehicle safety, such as tires, brakes, turn signals, and mechanical equipment, and report all mechanical issues to school administration. Obey all traffic laws. Assist in the care and cleanliness of buses and proactively check for bus readiness before transporting students. Arrive promptly to ensure a timely bus schedule. Set a good example in promptness, manners, language, appearance, and health. Minimum Qualifications Must support the Mission Statement of Our Lady Star of the Sea. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must hold a valid Washington State driver's license. Must hold a current CDL - if not in possession, willing to take the CDL paid training Must maintain up-to-date first aid certification. The bus driver is expected to be clean, well-groomed, and dressed in reasonable and modest attire. Must complete a pre-employment criminal background check, driver MVR background check, and complete a 45-minute Virtus Training.
