POSITION SUMMARY The School Bus Driver's main responsibilities are to safely transport students and staff, and to fulfill the required duties of daily bus operations. Schedule: This is a part-time position of 6 hours per day, split into two shifts a 3-hour morning shift and a 3-hour afternoon shift to align with student pick-up and drop-off times. Responsibilities: Provide safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services for DCSC-authorized students. Operate vehicles designed to carry 10 or more passengers, such as passenger vans, shuttles, or sedans. Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, ensuring functionality and safety of vehicle components, including tires, lights, oil levels, and first aid kits. Keep vehicles clean and sanitized daily after each commute. Ensure compliance with vehicle emergency evacuation plans and execute evacuations as needed. Adhere strictly to DCSC policies, including only transporting authorized students. Work closely with DCSC Aides to ensure student safety and supervision during transportation. Follow all communication protocols, including reporting issues to the DCSC Dispatcher. Minimum Qualifications: At least 2 years of experience driving commercial passenger vehicles (e.g., shuttle vans, sedans). Possess and maintain a valid license appropriate for assigned vehicles. Current and valid CPR and First Aid certifications, maintained without lapse. A clean driving record with zero incidents of serious motor vehicle violations (e.g., DUI, reckless driving, hit-and-run). Must pass a criminal background check. Proof of a negative TB test.     Support Staff Date Available: Immediately JOB SUMMARY: Support the Bus Driver in transporting students safely to and from school and assist students while entering and exiting the bus. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. High school graduate or GED. 2. Pleasant and professional manner. 3. Ability to work with children. 4. Meet the training, safety and background check requirements stated in COMAR §13A.06.07.08. RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists the bus driver in maintaining good student conduct on the bus. Assists young or disabled students in getting on and off the bus. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Assures that students get on and off the bus in an orderly fashion. Provides written records of violation of the student code to the bus driver. Collects and turns over to the school secretary those personal items left on bus by students.
