The Heavy Equipment/Transport Driver is responsible for the safe operation of Company-owned trucks and trailers to move material and equipment. The Driver conducts this service in compliance with all applicable DOT regulations, minimizing on-the-road costs and avoiding damage to equipment and cargo with respect for his own personal safety and the safety of others on the road.
The Driver supports and assists the fleet department personnel in a continuous effort to provide COMANCO field operations with the proper, safe, clean, and working equipment in a timely manner. Be a team player in all aspects of your job and take pride in every task performed.
Job Focus:
Comply with federal and state CDL rules and regulations; size, weight, route designations, parking, and break periods, and with Company policies and procedures.
Maintain an accurate 'Hours of Service' log as mandated by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). The Hours-of-Service regulations were enacted to help eliminate the risk of driver fatigue that can often lead to accidents.
Pre-inspect truck prior to driving.
Drive company trucks to transport material and/or equipment to and from specified destinations and operate all COMANCO vehicles in a safe, orderly manner at all times.
Carefully load and unload trucks and secure all loads during transit.
Verify the load against the shipping papers, plan your routes, and meet delivery schedules.
Inspect your vehicle for mechanical and safety issues and notify Fleet of needed or anticipated repairs.
Report the misuse or abuse of company assets to management.
Responsible for the cleanliness and organization of your vehicle.
Keep your driver's license and DOT medical card with you at all times.
Report all accidents and violations to your Supervisor immediately.
Respond to all phone calls and monitor and respond to e-mails when applicable.
Follow all safety site-specific requirements when visiting job sites.
The proper PPE must be worn at all times while on the job site: hard hat, steel-toed boots, safety glasses, gloves, and a COMANCO fluorescent vest. Enforce safety compliance to all coworkers.
Assist with shipping and receiving of equipment and supplies inbound and outbound.
Assist with washing equipment and vehicles as they arrive back to the office.
Assist with cleaning all vehicles, unloading, and cleaning all trailers, cleaning all heavy equipment and other miscellaneous equipment in the yard.
Assist with the repair and maintenance of vacuum boxes and air test kits and in wrapping extension cords.
Perform other duties and special assignments as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
CDL Class-A License and clean driving record are required.
Education and/or Experience - High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or a minimum of one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

A valid certificate(s) of course completion for first aid training and child cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) procedures.
Minimum requirements are a Class C CDL with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsement. If the bus to be driven has air breaks, then the minimum requirement is a Class B CDL.
Documentation of passing pre-employment Florida Department of Transportation Drug/Alcohol testing requirements.
Level 2 Background Screening as required by Department of Children and Families.
After the first day, the individual must complete the following:
Transportation Training of 8 hours before transporting children.
