TITLE: School Bus Driver QUALIFICATIONS: Meet all licensing requirements of the Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA). Have not more than 2 current points on the individual's driving record and have a satisfactory past driving record as determined by the Supervisor of Transportation. Attend all training sessions and meetings as directed by the Transportation Department. Pick up and discharge students only at designated stops. Report all pupil behavior problems. Make sure that all students are aware of the procedures and rules regarding pupil discipline and safety. Report bus breakdowns immediately by radio or cell phone to designated persons and offices as prescribed. Report all school bus traffic accidents immediately by radio or cell phone as prescribed. Refrain from backing a school bus on school grounds unless appropriate assistance is provided. Conduct the prescribed daily practice inspection. Fuel buses only when passengers are not on the bus. Use all lights and signals in the prescribed manner. Provide assistance to students when crossing the roadway. Cooperate with the school administrator and Transportation Department in dealing with parents and student problems. Refrain from moving the bus until all students are seated. Inspects the condition of the bus daily and reports all damage. Report, within 24 hours, when Driver's license status has been affected by suspension, revocation, cancellation, lost privilege or disqualification. Must notify superior of any conviction of any type of Motor Vehicle State or local law relating to vehicle control as occurred. Also, report any parking violations issued involving a University Vehicle while in the driver's control. Complete Found Property reports for any items left in vehicle. Complete rider logs for all persons transported and uses two-way-radio to communicate with the security office at the Owings Mills Campus. Assist Campus Security Officers by communicating via handheld radio suspicious or criminal activity on observed on or near campus. May be asked to work at Special events; i.e. athletic games, theatre events, commencements etc., to assist security officers with traffic and crowd control/management while under the direction of security personnel and notifying security of any circumstance needing Campus security consideration. Must report any circumstance that would affect compromise or impair the ability to perform the essential functions of this position.
