JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Safely load, transport, and unload products at designated customer locations. Operate a commercial vehicle along established routes to deliver, stock, and stage products. Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and a customer-first attitude at all times. QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or GED required. Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Air Brake endorsement. Valid Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with FMCSA Part 391.41. Minimum 1 year of Class A commercial driving experience required. Must be at least 21 years of age. Manual transmission experience required (no automatic restrictions). Prior experience in food/beverage delivery and customer service preferred. Strong communication, organizational, and basic math skills. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Activity Bus Driver To transport participants among schools, athletic fields, practice fields/buildings, and other specific destinations safely and promptly. ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: The Activity Bus Driver shall carry out the performance responsibilities listed below. Verify that the bus is in satisfactory condition before use by inspecting and activating mechanical and operating parts such as warning lights, turn signals, windshield wipers, gauges, horn, brakes, emergency doors, etc., and by determining that all prescribed safety equipment is in place and legal documents are visible. Adhere to the bus schedule precisely to meet passengers at designated times and locations and transport them to their destinations. Operate the bus in a manner to provide prompt and safe transportation. Operate all safety equipment responsibly, such as stop arms, warning lights, etc. Maintain acceptable behavior of passengers, assign seating arrangements and monitor assignments; inform passengers of behavior and safety rules and enforce rules, as necessary; discharge passengers only at authorized locations. Prepare and complete forms necessary to fulfill State and District requirements, such as bus schedule worksheets, pre-trip inspection reports, FTE surveys, injury and incident reports, mileage logs, etc. Arrange for or perform bus maintenance; position bus at fuel stations for fuel, oil and cleaning; insert fuel card into computer terminal and dial in mileage to record required information; sweep bus floors after use; inspect bus for torn seats, graffiti, vandalism, etc.; prepare requests for repairs. NATURE OF WORK Work is performed under general direction of the Transportation Supervisor. This is skilled vehicle operation work in transporting passengers of a public transport system. Employees in this class operate passenger buses over prescribed routes within the City or on special charters (such as special events, camp program...). Additionally, work involves responsibility for the safe operation of passenger vehicles such as vans, minibuses, station wagons or automobiles in transporting clients. Incumbents typically transport individuals to clinics, doctors or other treatment facilities from private residences. Some employees in this class could also transport clients undergoing rehabilitation treatment at medical facilities or take clients shopping for basic necessities. Drivers are responsible for the safety of their passengers and the vehicle operated as well as for completing the assigned route according to the prescribed time schedule. Duties involve collection and accountability for passenger fares according to an established rate schedule. Work requires the use of defensive driving skills and the courteous application of standard operating procedures, rules and regulations of the City. This is light manual work in the operation of motor vehicles used to transport residents of the City; typically frail, elderly, and disabled. Dispatch duties include operating the dispatch radio and related equipment to dispatch work assignments and receive reports from bus drivers; receiving telephone calls, scheduling appointments, verifying pickups and returns and scheduling bus driver routes. The incumbent works within the scope of established departmental rules, regulations and procedures but exercises independent judgment in coordinating efforts to resolve field problems. Requirements EDUCATION * Graduation from an accredited high school, vocational school or possession of G.E.D. equivalency diploma. * PROOF OF HIGHEST LEVEL OF COMPLETED EDUCATION MUST BE SUBMITTED AS AN ATTACHMENT WITH APPLICATION. The Specialized Transport Driver will safely operate a commercial industrial carrier or tractor trailer combination with a GVWR rating in excess of 33,000 lbs. Essential Duties Report each scheduled day, on-time, ready and able to work, well-groomed and in uniform. Identify to the Dispatcher that you are available to work. Perform vehicle inspection sheet daily, identifying any mechanical issues. Responsible to follow all Company and DOT rules and regulations regarding the safe operation of the truck.
