B. The Bus Driver is responsible for providing safe transport for Club members and staff to designated locations on schedule and an assigned route. C. The Bus Driver interacts with Club children to ensure their safe transportation to the various locations. This is accomplished through the effective performance of this job description with or without reasonable accommodations and with special attention to the application of the Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Safety: Includes but not limited to the following: 1. Ensure passengers are seated and secured (seatbelts fastened if available) before moving the bus. 2. Ensure that members are supervised at all times while in transit. Greet them and manage their behavior during the bus ride. 3. Assist children with getting on and off the bus as needed. 4. Learn which members take their route and account for each child as they board and depart the bus. 5. Remind members of safety rules when sitting in their seats and exiting the bus. 6. No texting or phone use while the vehicle is moving or while stopped at intersections. 7. Obey all Indiana Department of Motor Vehicles regulations and traffic laws. ยท NOTE: You may be held responsible for any traffic violations or tickets. Vehicle Maintenance and Safety: 8. Perform inspections of the bus before and after each route to ensure the vehicle is safe to drive before moving. 9. Ensure the window glass is clear and the tires have air before driving. 10. Report and document any incidents and/or accidents as soon as they occur by filling out the proper paperwork and submitting it to the Director of Operations. 11. Communicate to management, in a timely way, all concerns regarding the safety of the vehicle. 12. Ensure that all occupants in the vehicle wear seatbelts, if available, at all times and that they are secured before moving the vehicle. 13. Ensure that the vehicle is clean inside and outside and that all glass has clear visibility for safety. 14. As required; keep the vehicle clean inside and outside, make sure it is fueled, and record mileage as appropriate. 15. Inspect the lights, brakes, alarms and seats. 16. Pick up trash, wipe down the seats, and perform other light maintenance at the end of the day. General Responsibilities: 17. You may be required to participate in and complete a recognized defensive driving course. 18. Keep track of and secure all Club equipment and supplies being transported in the vehicle. 19. You must not text in the vehicle while it is moving or stopped at a traffic light or stop sign. 20. You must not operate any BGCNI vehicle if under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs, or any other mind-altering substances including prescription medicine. Attend safety meetings as required.
