Position Summary
The School Bus Driver ensures the safe and efficient transportation of students, parents, and staff to and from school campuses, activities, and field trips. This role involves operating school vehicles, conducting safety inspections, enforcing policies, and representing the school with professionalism and care.
Key Responsibilities

The Lead Reentry Coach/Driver performs a wide range of critical functions in support of services available through CORE. As a transportation coordinator, the role has direct responsibility for coordinating operations related to a discrete program or set of services available through CORE, and as a Lead Reentry Coach may be tasked with providing some direct services and with the supervision of a limited number of Reentry Coaches or Peer Navigators as deemed necessary to achieve CORE's objectives. In Coordinating transportation services for CORE, the Transportation Coordinator is responsible for supporting the reentry population with transportation to and from certain reentry related activities, including

RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership: Support manager with day-to-day operations at their assigned service site, including occasions that include the performance of some administrative activities such as the opening or closing of a CORE service site; staff assistance with providing direct services, especially transportation services, by ensuring their adherence to established service delivery policies and procedures as well as any necessary data collection processes. If assigned with the direct supervision of staff, promote team member skill building and professional development aligned with Rubicon's Core Competencies of coaching, trauma informed care, motivational interviewing, and cultural responsiveness.
Service Provision: Serve as a welcoming, positive, and empathetic point of contact with individuals seeking reentry services from CORE; may be called upon to lead culturally appropriate and receptive workshops, trainings and/or support groups for justice impacted individuals. Take a primary role in the provision of shuttle-based transportation services and in ensuring the availability of other appropriate transportation services. Effectively communicate with staff, including the Office Manager, to ensure team members have access to the tools and information required to provide effective transportation support.
Service Coordination: Support CORE staff with the provision of transportation services, and with understanding of rules, eligibility requirements and limitations of available transportation services. Engage other Rubicon staff in the use of available transportation resources, including coordinating with coaches, ambassadors, and navigators to meet identified transportation needs of CORE Members. Serve as a responsive point-of-contact for external partners looking to leverage or refer individuals to CORE for transportation support. Data Management and Record Keeping:. Work with service delivery and Organizational Impact staff to ensure service data is properly collected and entered Rubicon's customized data platform and any other required data systems. Ensure the collection and monitoring of service data related to established goals and objectives of CORE's transportation program. Work with Rubicon's COO to ensure appropriate record keeping is maintained on the fuel levels, maintenance and upkeep of all Rubicon vehicles used in relation to CORE's transportation services.
Outreach and Marketing: Promote the availability of CORE's transportation services withing Rubicon to team co-located with CORE, and externally to partners capable of referring individuals to CORE for transportation support. Develop promotional materials promoting CORE's transportation services and promote their distribution to places likely to reach individuals eligible for the services available - including digital distribution options. Participate in and support CORE's general outreach and engagement activities and campaigns.

Job Description:
Under general supervision, to operate a school bus over designated routes to transport school children; and to do related work as required.
Qualifications:
1. Knowledge: Knowledge of safe driving practices; provisions of the California Motor Vehicle Code and the Education Code applicable to the operation of vehicles in transporting school children; first aid practices.
2. Ability: Operate a school bus exercising good judgement and extreme caution; maintain order among students on a school bus; learn a designated bus route, bus stops and district traffic hazards; follows verbal and written directions.

Typical Duties:
1. Drives a bus daily over designated routes in accordance with time schedules, picking up and discharging school children.
2. Escorts children across streets stopping traffic when necessary.

4. Cleans interior and windows and assists in maintaining bus in safe operating condition.

DEFINITION
To drive the school bus while transporting students, and to perform a variety of tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives direction from the Transportation Director/Transportation Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL AND MARGINAL FUNCTION STATEMENTS --
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential Functions:
1. Perform safety checks on buses; identify defects and document on appropriate form.
2. Drive School Buses to designate route according to established time schedules; transport students on field trips as assigned.
3. Supervise the conduct of students while on the school bus; review the bus rules and appropriate student behavior; issue citations as necessary.
4. Help students requiring special assistance, including operating wheelchair lifts and restraints.
5. Conduct bus evacuation drills; review rules, regulations and procedures with students.
