SUMMARY: The position of Bus Driver for the Head Start program is responsible for maintaining compliance and safety in transporting children to and from the Head Start program daily.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Signs in/out daily when arriving and departing any Springfield Urban League location.
Must utilize ADP Payroll Software for the inputting of time entries for payroll.
Driver is responsible for the entries and updates to the routes in Child Plus.
The driver shall not leave the bus unattended at anytime while transporting children.
Pick up children on time and deliver them to designated areas in a safe and efficient manner.
Return children to their homes at the end of the day.
Responsible for ensuring that each child is safely taken across any street crossing by the bus monitor, as needed.
Transport children to the centers or prearranged locations such as field trips.
Make certain good order is maintained in the vehicle for safety of the children.
Ensure that the bus is never over capacity at any time. This also includes ensuring the staff to student ratio is in compliance. At all times, there is always one monitor on the bus when transporting students.
Timely daily arrival at center-based locations and family day activities.
The bus shall be always maintained in excellent condition including the interior and exterior of the unit.
The bus is inspected daily by driver for mechanical or other flaws utilizing the State of Illinois Department of Transportation check-off sheets.
Bus maintenance is completed as requested by the Transportation Manager and mechanic.
Must attend in-service training and workshops at request of the Transportation Manager.
Drivers must not smoke or allow smoking, drink or allow drinking on the bus at any time. No food is allowed on the bus.
Driver is responsible for ensuring the bus is transported to the State Testing Center when the inspection is due. Driver is also responsible for maintaining the brake testing for the bus.
Conducts and documents safety drills/evacuations on a monthly basis submitting documentation to the Transportation Manager.

Completes the following and submits on a timely basis to the Transportation Manager:
a. Daily Bus Mileage Records
b. Receipts for Gas Purchases
c. Monthly Evaluation Drills
Completes a full bus walk through, from front to back prior to exiting the bus after each completed route to ensure no child has been left (i.e. sleeping, hiding, etc.)
Ensures that bus sign-off sheets are completed by the monitor daily and child drop-offs are on an emergency document designating appropriate adult(s) for each child.
Utilizes the bus radio to inform the central office of pick-up, drop-off complications and informs the central office of run completion prior to exiting the bus.
Check mailbox at the driver's assigned Springfield Urban League Inc. location in the a.m. and p.m. for any updates.
Driver must maintain an Active School Bus Driver Permit including Annual School Bus Driver Permit including DOT Certification, Annual School Bus Driver Physical and participate in the Annual Refresher Course.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to drive well and safely, meeting all requirements of the State of Illinois Department of Transportation.

Position Summary
Under the direction of the Versiti Supervisor Transportation, executes standard processes and policies for transportation courier services including blood product hospital deliveries and returns, donor center and mobile blood pick-ups, supply deliveries, distribution site transfers, Diagnostic Lab sample pick-ups, Pharmacy deliveries, and Donor Testing Lab tube deliveries, in a safe and timely fashion while meeting customer expectations and complying with applicable regulatory standards.

Responsibilities
Executes Versiti policies and procedures for internal blood product hospital deliveries and returns, donor center pick-ups, equipment, interoffice mail, supply deliveries, distribution site transfers, Diagnostic Lab sample pick-ups, Pharmacy deliveries, Donor Testing Lab tube deliveries
Ensures the safety, purity, potency and efficacy of products by following Versiti procedures in handling of all blood and blood products
Communicates any fleet maintenance needs, completes pre-trip and post-trip inspections, fuels vehicles, and general vehicle upkeep
Organize non-scheduled STAT deliveries and special requests to maintain efficiency and meet customer requirements
Practices defensive driving techniques, complete vehicle driving and safety training course (online or in person)
Executes Versiti customer service strategies designed to meet and/or exceed customer requirements
Completes all Versiti required training on time
Adheres to the laboratory safety policies as outlined in the department manual and employee handbook
Responsible for vehicle cleanliness, assuring no products, equipment, samples or materials remain in the vehicle at the end of the shift
Appropriate appearance and uniform required
Complete all paperwork correctly
Demonstrates courtesy for other drivers and consideration for weather and road conditions

Not have been under an order of court supervision or convicted of two or more serious traffic offenses within the previous 12-month period, nor be convicted of two or more serious traffic offenses during any 12-month period prior to the date of your application. Not have been under an order of court supervision or convicted of reckless driving, driving under the influence of alcohol and/or other drugs or reckless homicide while operating of a motor vehicle within three years of the date of application. Pass an Illinois specific and FBI criminal background check, whereas fingerprint results are valid for one year. Consent in writing to the release of results of reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing by the employer of the applicant to the Secretary of State. Not have, through the unlawful operation of a motor vehicle, caused an accident resulting in the death of any person. Not have been afflicted with or suffering from any mental disability or disease within the last five years.
Additional Qualifications: After the pre-employment interview, a new applicant must (1) pass a physical examination, including a tuberculosis test and drug testing; (2) be fingerprinted, as prescribed by the Secretary of State, and clear an Illinois specific background check, with prints forwarded to the FBI for a national background check; (3) complete the initial classroom course conducted by the Regional Office of Education; and (5) pass all written and performance exams necessary for the proper classification of the driver's license.

Job Description
SUMMARY: The position of Bus Driver for the Head Start program is responsible for maintaining compliance and safety in transporting children to and from the Head Start program daily.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Signs in/out daily when arriving and departing any Springfield Urban League location.
Must utilize ADP Payroll Software for the inputting of time entries for payroll.
Driver is responsible for the entries and updates to the routes in Child Plus.
The driver shall not leave the bus unattended at anytime while transporting children.
Pick up children on time and deliver them to designated areas in a safe and efficient manner.
Return children to their homes at the end of the day.
Responsible for ensuring that each child is safely taken across any street crossing by the bus monitor, as needed.
Transport children to the centers or prearranged locations such as field trips.
Make certain good order is maintained in the vehicle for safety of the children.
Ensure that the bus is never over capacity at any time. This also includes ensuring the staff to student ratio is in compliance. At all times, there is always one monitor on the bus when transporting students.
Timely daily arrival at center-based locations and family day activities.
The bus shall be always maintained in excellent condition including the interior and exterior of the unit.
The bus is inspected daily by driver for mechanical or other flaws utilizing the State of Illinois Department of Transportation check-off sheets.
Bus maintenance is completed as requested by the Transportation Manager and mechanic.
Must attend in-service training and workshops at request of the Transportation Manager.
Drivers must not smoke or allow smoking, drink or allow drinking on the bus at any time. No food is allowed on the bus.
Driver is responsible for ensuring the bus is transported to the State Testing Center when the inspection is due. Driver is also responsible for maintaining the brake testing for the bus.
Conducts and documents safety drills/evacuations on a monthly basis submitting documentation to the Transportation Manager.
Willing to cooperate with other staff members.
Completes the following and submits on a timely basis to the Transportation Manager:
a. Daily Bus Mileage Records
b. Receipts for Gas Purchases
c. Monthly Evaluation Drills
Completes a full bus walk through, from front to back prior to exiting the bus after each completed route to ensure no child has been left (i.e. sleeping, hiding, etc.)
Ensures that bus sign-off sheets are completed by the monitor daily and child drop-offs are on an emergency document designating appropriate adult(s) for each child.
Utilizes the bus radio to inform the central office of pick-up, drop-off complications and informs the central office of run completion prior to exiting the bus.
Check mailbox at the driver's assigned Springfield Urban League Inc. location in the a.m. and p.m. for any updates.
Driver must maintain an Active School Bus Driver Permit including Annual School Bus Driver Permit including DOT Certification, Annual School Bus Driver Physical and participate in the Annual Refresher Course.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to drive well and safely, meeting all requirements of the State of Illinois Department of Transportation.
Must possess a CDL license and school bus (SBP) endorsement.
At least 1 year of driving experience.
Ability to work well with children, staff, parents, and others.
