Kids Junction is a large established early childhood center with over 20 years of serving families in Madison, WI and surrounding communities. We are licensed by the State of Wisconsin for 360 children, which includes our after school program of around 100 children! We are passionate about providing a nurturing, play-based learning environment, rooted in Christian principles, that supports the social, emotional and academic development of young children.
Our popular after school program provides a safe, fun, school-age friendly environment for children in the Madison area during non-school hours. This safe and fun environment extends to our bus drivers, who are vital to our after school program!
About the role: We're looking for dedicated bus drivers to ensure safe transportation from various schools in the Madison area to our center. Actual assigned routes can vary, and include both public and private schools. We only transport enrolled children to our center-
no home routes or stops
! Additional staff support is provided on larger routes. Hours for this position are generally 12:00-3:30 PM Mondays and 1:00-3:30 PM Tuesdays-Fridays
with no nights or weekends
! Non-school day hours are available as well, which includes off-site field trips.
We offer competitive wages starting at $25+ per hour, depending on experience!
Our after-school bus driver positions are seasonal, which allows for flexible scheduling. Increased hours are available for the summer months to provide transportation for our two summer camps.

OBJECTIVE:
Under direction of Transit Operations Supervisor or designee, this position operates a transit bus on designated routes in a safe, courteous, and efficient manner. With the exception of completing training, this position is only scheduled for job assignments associated with operating routes before and after school, resulting in no scheduled work hours during school breaks and in the summer.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to Transit Operations Supervisor or designee.
Has no regular supervisory duties.
Has regular contact with Assistant Transit Director, Transit Maintenance Supervisor, Transit Director, division employees, and general public. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. * Daily bus driving on designated routes throughout the JT system, asassigned.
* Conducts all operations in accordance with established rules and standards, keeping safety as the first priority.
* Provides excellent customer service to the public.
* Fare handling, providing route and scheduling information, conducts daily pre-trip inspections, necessary paperwork, sweeping of buses, and maintaining a timely schedule.
* Secures mobility devices safely on buses.
* Performs other special projects and other job duties as assigned or required during regular and non-business hours.
* All employees may be assigned by the City Manager or their designee to perform duties and assume responsibilities that are outside the scope of their work duties when the City Manager has declared a City disaster or the City Emergency Operations Center has been initiated.
The requirements listed below are necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
* Must be 21 years of age or older.
* High school diploma or equivalent is required.
* Minimum three years' driving experience is required.
* Must have a valid state-issued driver's license.
* If not already fully licensed for commercial driving with passenger endorsement and no air brake restrictions, must possess a valid Commercial Driver Learning Permit, issued from the State Motor Vehicle Department, and present to Human Resources upon date of hire with the City of Janesville. Applicant will not be allowed to begin employment without proof of a valid Commercial Driver Learning Permit.
* Possession or ability to obtain and maintain a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with passenger endorsement and no air brake restrictions within 60 calendar days of date of hire.
* Excellent driving record, as reported by State Motor Vehicle Department.
* Excellent prior work record.
* Experience transporting passengers (coach/school bus, transit bus, paratransit, shuttle van, minibus/cutaway, taxi, rideshare, etc.) desired.
* Customer service experience desired.

Your contributions will include:
Conduct pre- and post-trip equipment inspections on semi-tractor and trailer at beginning and end of shift.
Thoroughly and securely hook up and unhook trailers as required.
Safely and accurately load and unload all products while adhering to all safety measures, regulations and standards of all customers, company, and terminal operators.
Operate semi-truck to and from locations while adhering to all local, state and federal transportation regulations and traffic laws.
Safely operate bulk fuel dispensing equipment to underground (gravity drop) as well as above ground (pump off) fuel tank systems.
Accurately operate the dispatching and logging programs of electronic devices/tablets.
Prepare and complete all necessary paperwork for deliveries.
Perform preventive maintenance inspections and follow notifications steps for any potential hazards.
Provide excellent customer service while representing yourself and the company.
To be successful in this opportunity, you will meet the following qualifications:
HS Diploma or GED- Required.

The Childcare Van Driver is responsible for safely and effectively driving students enrolled in the YWCA Child Care Program between program sites; and/or field trips during the school year and/or the Summer Discovery Day Camp.
Major Responsibilities
Practice the Name-to-Face 3-Checkpoint System: Upon entrance into the van; after each child has been properly buckled in; and upon departure from the van.
Follow rules and expectations that are clearly defined using positive techniques to help guide children's behavior and support the development of self-control; encourage positive interactions among adults and children that convey respect, support and trust; deliver redirection of negative behaviors in a positive environment of safety, support and care in keeping with the Child Care Program's purpose.
Read weekly meeting notes & communication log book.
Record messages (given verbally or through voicemail) or special incidences or circumstances in the log book for “regular” staff.
Inform Program Director when problems arise.
Greet parents, staff and children daily whenever possible.
Check voicemail regularly.
Comply with all YWCA, state licensing regulations, and Young Star
Track children according to program policies (NTF 3-Checkpoint System.)
Record necessary information in the medical log book.
Introduce yourself and ask for identification as needed.
Record times of pick-up and drop-off at each location.
Put a single line through errors, then date and initial. Record the correct information.
Attend staff, departmental, and other YWCA meetings as assigned.
Maintain familiarity with YWCA goals, mission and programs.

Requirements
High School Diploma, or equivalent.
1-3 years' experience working with children who are in pre-school, day care or elementary school settings.
Valid, government-issued driver's license and a clean driving record.
Ability to pass criminal background check.
Satisfactorily completed 10 hours training in the care of school-age children or equivalent; as approved by Wisconsin DPI; or be willing to complete at least 10 hours training within 6 months of hire.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; enthusiastic, warm and approachable.
Experience working with culturally and economically diverse populations.
Good judgement when making decisions. Able to make collaborative decisions for the good of the YWCA.
