Shuts bus engine off when parked on school property for 3 minutes or more, with the exception of a bus using a handicapped lift. Does not restart bus until all students have boarded.

What you will bring as a Team Member:
The position of Cook plays an important role in our centers ensuring children have the right fuel for their hard work learning, playing and growing all day. You will be responsible for preparing breakfast, lunch and a snack for each classroom which includes all meal planning, ordering, prep, and cleanup. Meals must be planned ahead with age-appropriate foods and follow regulatory guidelines. Sanitation is also important including ensuring tools, equipment, kitchen and storage areas are kept clean and orderly. Experience cooking in a fast-paced or similar Early Education environment with knowledge of common allergies and regular substitutes is required. You must feel comfortable around young students as you will be working around, serving, and possibly assisting with supervision of children. Cooks may be required to step into a classroom or the front office to assist during staff shortage, cover breaks, or maintain fulltime hours in smaller schools.

Essential Functions:
Ensure safety of students
Transport students safely and efficiently to and from school and school related events
Conduct oneself professionally as a representative of our school district while at school sponsored activities and field trips
Follow assigned bus routes and schedules
Maintain required records and information
Report any mechanical problems to the bus mechanic/Transportation Supervisor
Keep assigned vehicle neat and clean
Maintain up-to-date knowledge and awareness of changes in driving laws as they apply to transporting school children
Obey all traffic laws
Observe all mandatory safety regulations for school buses
Maintain pupil control and report any violations to the proper authorities as prescribed
Notify the transportation supervisor in case of mechanical failure or lateness
Discharge students only at authorized stops
Transport only authorized students
Report all accidents and complete required reports
Enforce applicable federal and state laws, and the Board of Education policies
Complete established pre-trip inspection of vehicle
Report any hazardous conditions along the existing route to the transportation supervisor

Notify the transportation supervisor in case of illness in order to permit time to secure a substitute driver
Share in the responsibility for retrieving driving directions to and from school-sponsored events and/or approved field trips
Conduct front door, rear door and combination front and rear door emergency evacuation drills
Make contacts with the public with tact and diplomacy
Maintain respect at all times for confidential information (i.e. student identification information, student medication)
Interact in a positive manner with staff, students and parents
Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude, conversation and by the safe and professional operation of a school bus

Warm up the engine gradually in cold weather
