Essential Job Functions
Responsible for driving schoolbuses safely and professionally
Responsible for monitoring mechanical condition of the bus by performing daily bus pre-trip inspections and completing associated forms; report any deficiencies to the Bus Mechanic
Responsible to annually create and maintain entire series of assigned runs, including the run times and routes of travel
Responsible for providing Transportation Dispatcher with all updated route information and changes as they occur
Responsible for filling out count week logs and turning in to Transportation Dispatcher
Responsible for reporting any route time issues to the Transportation Dispatcher
Responsible for reporting any hazards which could potentially threaten the safety of the students
Responsible for preparing written reports for injuries, accidents and student conduct issues
Responsible to administer emergency treatment resulting from a bus accident
Responsible to maintain, and use properly, all bus safety equipment including fire extinguishers, flares, triangles, wheelchair tie-downs, booster seats and seat belts
Responsible to check all bus fluids and fuel daily and fill as required
Responsible for following designated routes of travel and utilizing approved stop locations only
Responsible for supervising the behavior of students and maintain order on the bus
Responsible for instructing passengers on proper bus behavior
Responsible for obeying all traffic laws, regulations and procedures
Responsible for conducting emergency evacuation drills
Responsible to report discipline problems to the principals
Responsible for checking bus for any remaining students and confirming by a displaying sign
Responsible to clean inside of bus daily and outside as required
Responsible to maintain regular and reliable attendance
Responsible for related duties as assigned
Requirements
High School Graduate
Must enjoy working with children of all ages and be sensitive to their needs
Must be free from adverse effects of medication, alcohol and drugs
Must use respectable and appropriate language at all times
Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Type B or higher
Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a type P “passenger”, type S “schoolbus” and air brake endorsements
Must be able to meet the criteria and pass the physical examination per Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (49 CFR 391.41-391.49), and comply with WWPS BusDriver Physical Requirements

Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in handling and maneuvering a schoolbus
Must submit to random drug and alcohol testing
Must be able to speak, read and write at a level of proficiency that permits satisfactory job performance

The employee may be required to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff. Responsible to maintain, and use properly, all bus safety equipment including fire extinguishers, flares, triangles, wheelchair tie-downs, booster seats and seat belts
