Such alternatives to the above as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Transportation JOB GOAL: To provide a safe environment for all the passengers that may be riding the bus. ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Transport only those pupils assigned to the bus. Follow time schedules and routes as prescribed. Attend all training sessions and meetings as directed by the Transportation Department. Pick up and discharge students only at designated stops. Report all pupil behavior problems. Make sure that all students are aware of the procedures and rules regarding pupil discipline and safety. Report bus breakdowns immediately by radio or cell phone to designated persons and offices as prescribed. Report all school bus traffic accidents immediately by radio or cell phone as prescribed. Refrain from backing a school bus on school grounds unless appropriate assistance is provided. Conduct the prescribed daily practice inspection. Fuel buses only when passengers are not on the bus. Use all lights and signals in the prescribed manner. Provide assistance to students when crossing the roadway. Cooperate with the school administrator and Transportation Department in dealing with parents and student problems. Refrain from moving the bus until all students are seated. Use only proper English when communicating; profane language is not permitted. Performs the related duties as assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Non-exempt position. The employment period for the school bus driver shall be from the first day of school to the last day of school. Schedules, routes and hours worked are subject to change on short notice.
