The work requires exposure to traffic and some bending, stooping, lifting and stretching. The employee remains seated while driving and work requires visual acuity and concentration to ensure the safe operation of school buses. Substitute bus drivers may be placed into permanent positions as they become available.
Qualifications:
* Must be 21 years of age; have less than 3 moving violations within the last 5 years; be in good health and willing to submit to a drug test.
* Have or be willing to acquire valid Washington State CDL license.

Reporting directly to the Director of Specialized Transportation, the School Bus Driver will transport students with disabilities on "to and from school" routes.

Bus Driver (Floater Route) January 30 , 2024 Puget Sound Educational Service District seeks a Bus Driver for our Early Learning Transportation Services to transport children to program-related activities. Our Pacific Transportation office provides pupil transportation for 700 part-day Head Start and ECEAP children in King and Pierce Counties and is in the fourth year of providing services through the McKinney Vento program. The transportation program runs a fleet of 32 buses and currently employs 16 regular and substitute school bus drivers. We provide school bus transportation to those part-day Head Start grantees and ECEAP sub-contractors who do not have their transportation services provided through a local school district. We operate under the guidance of the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) Pupil Transportation Services, as well as the mandates included in the Head Start, ECEAP, and McKinney-Vento Program Standards which govern program operation including the provision of transportation services.

- Readies and inspects vehicles, including safety items, cleanliness and general appearance, at launch and throughout the day in order to insure safe and efficient operation of equipment. Reports any equipment defects as prescribed by WTA policy and procedures.

Job Summary: Under supervision of the Transportation Supervisor, operate school buses under all types of weather conditions. Transport students and other authorized persons on regular school routes and other extracurricular activity field trips.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS
This position is part of Pubic School Employee's collective bargaining unit. The position of bus driver is up to five (5) days a week following the student calendar. Hours for this position to be determined by Supervisor. Salary and benefits as determined by the current collective bargaining agreement. Employee is required to complete all mandatory district trainings by specified deadlines.
EVALUATION PROCEDURES
Probationary period will be 90 days. Performance shall be evaluated annually according to Board and administrative policies and procedures.
