Must be able to pass all required training required by the school district and the Mississippi Department of Education Must pass police background records check Must be insurable by local district insurance carrier Must be able to perform preventative maintenance checks Have no known medical history or clinical diagnosis of any condition that could be detrimental to the safety of the students that will be transported Must be willing to submit to and pass drug screening Must be eighteen (18) years of age Must be willing to submit to a Department of Transportation "physical” examination. DUTIES & REPONSIBILITIES Obey all traffic laws Maintain discipline and safety, within the legal limits, while students are on the bus Keep assigned bus clean at all times Transport only authorized students Pick-up and discharge students at authorized bus stops only Notify the proper personnel in the event of mechanical failure Report all accidents and complete the required reports immediately Operate school bus on an assigned schedule daily, never departing a bus stop early Perform a minimum of two (2) school bus evacuation drills each school term, using appropriate emergency procedures Attend a minimum of two (2) hours of in-service training each semester Perform other related duties as requested or assigned by supervisor Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus REPORTS TO: Transportation Supervisor Length of employment: 10 Months

TITLE Substitute Bus Driver TYPE Non- Exempt PRIMARY FUNCTION Performs routine bus driving duties transporting students to and from assigned schools; transports students for special events and field trips MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Must be 21 years of age or older Valid Mississippi motor vehicle operator's license Ability to meet Mississippi School Bus Commercial Driver License requirements Local and state standards for driving test State required physical Ability to operate all vehicle types (from 15 passenger van buses to 72-passenger vehicles) used in transporting students Thorough knowledge of State highway operating rules and procedures Ability to deal with exuberant behavioral characteristics of youthful riders REPORTS TO Each driver shall be directly responsible to the principal of the school(s) served on matters related to student discipline and patron relations. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain valid MS School Bus Commercial Driver License Inspect vehicle prior to and after daily operations for maintenance discrepancies Operate a school bus over established routes in an efficient and punctual manner Maintain student discipline while operating a school bus following guidelines established by the School Board Drive defensively under varying traffic conditions Perform housekeeping duties inside and outside the school bus Demonstrate knowledge of rules and regulations promulgated by local, state, and federal authorities Act in a professional manner exhibiting a positive image in dealing with students, parents, and school division personnel Conduct emergency evacuation drills in keeping with division regulations Operate a school bus on special trip assignments Report personal absences to supervisor allowing sufficient time to secure a substitute Report vehicle maintenance problems to Director of Transportation Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT 180 days Salary according to School Board Pay Schedule EVALUATION Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy and administrative regulations on the evaluation of non-licensed personnel. DAYS WORKED 180 as needed

The Bus Driver is responsible to the Director of the Physical Plant and shall possess evidence of skill proficiency required in the performance of the duties and responsibilities listed below. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: * None DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Safely transport passengers to and from scheduled locations * Obey all traffic laws and safety regulations for passenger buses * Communicate effectively with the maintenance department * Perform pre-trip inspections on the bus before each route or trip as required * Complete forms, records, and reports as required * Clean and service the school bus to include interior sweeping * Report necessary bus repairs or damage to the maintenance department * Perform other duties as assigned
