Backup full time drivers, to transfer students to and from school and school activities in a safe and timely manner. Know and obey all laws and regulations that pertain to school bus drivers. This includes proper ways of making student stops and crossing railroads. Observe all school policies regarding supervision and transportation of students. Attend all training classes and/or drivers meetings for bus drivers and all other meetings that the school deems appropriate. Insure that all transported students observe all laws and policies set forth by the Head of School and the Director of Transportation. Instruct students about safe riding practices, including the safest way of loading and unloading at their particular stop. Monitor students on buses. Instruct and supervise emergency evacuation drills of the school bus. Fill fuel tanks of bus as needed in a safe and appropriate manner. Make daily pre-trip inspections of the bus being used, reporting any defects affecting the safety and/or operation of said bus to the Director of Transportation. Keep the bus clean and neat at all times. The Specialized Transport Driver will safely operate a commercial industrial carrier or tractor trailer combination with a GVWR rating in excess of 33,000 lbs. have at least two (2) years of heavy hauling / commercial driving experience. Essential Duties: Report each scheduled day, on-time, ready and able to work, well-groomed and in uniform. Identify to the Dispatcher that you are available to work. Perform vehicle inspection sheet daily, identifying any mechanical issues. Responsible to follow all Company and DOT rules and regulations regarding the safe operation of the truck. Inspect all supplied tools such as chains, straps, and cables to ensure equipment is in a good and safe condition. Report any issue that restricts the ability to complete the dispatch in a timely manner. Ability to drive and perform duties via interstate for towing, recovery, and/or transport.
