Prior to starting as a school bus driver, you will apply and be hired as a temporary bus driver trainee. As a temporary bus driver trainee, you will be trained and tested to receive a CDL. You will be responsible for all fees associated with the CDL. Academy District 20 will cover the cost of your DOT physical. While training you will not be eligible for benefits and must be available for training five to eight hours a day Monday through Friday. Once you have completed your training (including successfully passing the test for your CDL and DOT physical), your position will be updated to a school bus driver.

Required:
Colorado Commercial Driver's License (CDL) class B or C with school bus and passenger endorsement prior to date of employment.
Acceptable driving recorded based on Motor Vehicle Report prior to employment.
Knowledge of mechanical operation of a vehicle to include daily maintenance checks.
Ability to lift/carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
Must have current First Aid and CPR certifications within 90-days of employment.
Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination, TB test, drug test (including marijuana), and background check in accordance with the Office of Head Start Performance Standards and Childcare Licensing. (Physical examination and TB test thereafter as required).
Must have access to reliable transportation and if using a personal vehicle must maintain minimum liability insurance as determined by the State of Colorado.
Preferred:
Experience in driving a school bus and working with pre-school age or elementary school age children.

If you're a CDL holder with experience driving school buses, working with children, and want to spend your days active and in the outdoors, Go West camps is looking for drivers to shuttle our campers to and from our three Colorado Springs locations and to activity sites throughout the Colorado Springs area. We would prefer if you are able to work in ratio as a co-counselor with our summer camp staff and provide supervision for campers ages 5-14.

What You'll Do
Safely and responsibly drive campers in and around the Colorado Springs Area, shuttling groups to activities and between our three sites (Eagleview Middle School, Chinook Trail Middle School, and The Colorado Springs School)
Maintain vehicle maintenance and driving records.
Be in ratio with groups assisting with supervision of campers along with our summer camp counselors while out on activities and while at site.
