Job Description
St. Catherine's School is accepting applications for School Bus Drivers. Applicants with Class A or Class B CDL, with Passenger and Air Brake endorsements with a minimum of three years' driving experience are preferred. Responsibilities include driving students along daily shuttle route and day trips. Maintaining assigned bus in a safe, clean, professional manner is a must. Employment is subject to successful background check and physical evaluation.

Hours of Work: Standard work week. Evening and weekend work may be required.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Drives a school transportation vehicle within prescribed route(s) in accordance with time schedules; picking up and discharging students at designated stops
Coordinate with Athletics to transport athletes to/from sports events (local and distance)
Transports students and teachers on field trips to various locations; planning necessary route(s) and stops as needed
May operate a special ramp bus; loads and unloads students in wheelchairs on and off bus, inspecting wheelchair for operational safety; operates ramp; positions and secures wheelchair in bus
Maintains order of student passengers according to school policy
Pre-trip the vehicle properly
Have bus fueled and ready to go 15 minutes prior to departure time
Properly fill out time sheet and mileage reports each day
Conduct safety and operational inspection of assigned vehicle daily
Reports needed mechanical repairs when necessary
Services buses with gas, diesel fuel, and oil; checks and when necessary, fills tires and batteries
Performs periodical safety drills as required by law; completing necessary reports upon request
Maintains cleanliness of vehicle to ensure safe operating condition
Attend various meetings regarding safety, first aid and training updates as required
Attends driver training programs to maintain current knowledge of Vriginia Motor Vehicle Code
Operates a two-way radio
Washes bus as needed
Ability to follow route directions (GPS or written)
Complete annual physical requirements
Maintain reputable driving background; must not have an air brakes restriction
Must be able to work various shifts
Performs related duties as required

Purpose:
Responsible for driving the facility vehicle as directed by the Administrator, Program Director, Receptionist or other person of the management team.

Provide routine maintenance and cleaning of facility bus and/or cars such as washing the vehicle, cleaning the interior, changing of wiper blades, adding washer fluid, and checking the oil.
Schedule appointments for repairs and maintenance as needed and notifying the facility if the bus/car will be out of operation.
Be extremely familiar with life safety and all operational systems of the facility vehicle.
The facility vehicle must be mechanically sound, safe, and well maintained. Interiors must be kept neat, and clean.

The Transport Driver is a seasoned driver whose job is to deliver fuel to customer destinations and provide exceptional customer service. Foster Fuel Drivers are required to ensure their equipment is properly maintained and that all records or reports for DOT and Corporate compliance are met.
DUTIES
Drives truck and tanker to pick up and deliver fuel products as required.
Apply knowledge of commercial driving and skill in maneuvering vehicle at varying speeds in difficult situations, such as heavy traffic, inclement weather, or in tight loading/unloading areas.
Abides by all company, DOT, State, and Federal transportation safety regulations.
Conducts pre-trip and post trip inspections of equipment for defects and safe operation conditions before and after trips, when stopped during the work day, and submits a daily vehicle inspection report on the condition at the end of each day.

Maintains records required for compliance with State and Federal regulations and including driver's logs, records of fuel purchases, mileage records, and other records required by Foster Fuels or state and federal regulations.
Ensures that all shipping documentation (bills of laden, weight tickets, etc.) required to move with shipments are available for inspection, that appropriate paperwork accompanies shipments when delivered, and that signed bills of laden for proof of delivery are turned into dispatch daily.
Reports all accidents/incidents involving driver or company equipment immediately after an incident occurs to the Supervisor.
Promptly reports any delays due to breakdown, weather or traffic conditions, or other emergencies. Also report if there is more than a one-hour delay in getting unloaded or loaded, or in the event of irregularities relating to pick up or deliver of fuel.

Bus operators are responsible for operating transit service vehicles to include 29- to 60-foot buses used in public transportation in the greater Richmond region including but not limited to the City of Richmond, Henrico County, Chesterfield County. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operates a transit vehicle to pick up, transport, and discharge passengers while adhering to route schedules.

Performs a pre-trip inspection of transit vehicles for mechanical problems prior to beginning scheduled run. This includes conducting an external/internal visual inspection of the vehicle and pre-testing all necessary equipment, operating devices, and transit bus controls for use while in service. Complete familiarization with system and safety features. This includes local geography and roadways of an assigned route and of the entire service area; traffic rules, regulations, and laws; transfer points; and fare structures (if applicable).
Provides information on bus services to passengers which include bus schedules, routes, and fare information (if applicable).
Receives and transmits two-way radio messages involving accidents, incidents, emergencies, unauthorized/illegal activities utilizing judgment and discretion to ensure customer and individual safety. Also checks for Clever on-board system for messages from dispatchers regarding detours and other information.
Maintains radio contact with dispatchers to report vehicle breakdown, accidents, interruptions in service, or other vital information to maintain efficient transit operations.
Completes forms as required, may prepare detailed written reports concerning accidents, incidents, breakdowns, and mechanical defects as required.
Adheres to safety rules, regulations, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to ensure the well-being of GRTC customers and employees.
Collects proper fares from boarding passengers (if applicable).
Provides a high level of service while operating buses under a variety of conditions.
Regulates heating, lighting, and ventilating systems for passenger comfort.
Always maintains a professional appearance/ observes operator dress code.
