Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic School is seeking a part-time busdriver for the 2025-26 school year to drive and maintain our bus. The successful candidate would be capable of providing transportation of our OLSOS students back and forth from school and local selected destinations. Responsibilities and Duties
Drive Bus for morning/afternoon routes, Monday-Friday 6:30 to 8:30am and then again 3:15pm to 5:15 pm with a guarantee of 4 hours each day plus more if required.
Drive the bus on an as-needed basis for activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Depending upon the individual assignment the BusDriver may perform all or a combination of the following:

6. Issues discipline slips as required by district policy. Advises students with bus discipline problems; meets with principal or parent if warranted.
7. Provides first aid to injured or ill students as necessary.
8. Assists students with a variety of concerns and problems, such as changes in destination, locating siblings and other transportation related matters; checks notes and written permission or secures verbal permission from parent for non-routine student transportation.
9. Maintains and updates route maps. Protects vehicle from damage and vandalism as possible. Utilizes two-way radio to communicate with dispatcher.

10. Maintains log of bus activity, passenger count, mileage, fuel and other data as required.

SUMMARY: The SchoolBusDriver is responsible for providing bus transportation service to Chief Leschi students in a safe and timely manner.
ABOUT CHIEF LESCHI SCHOOLS: Formerly known as the Puyallup Tribal School, Chief Leschi Schools was founded in 1976 to address the high dropout rate of the youth of the Puyallup tribe. It is the largest of seven tribal schools in the state of Washington and one of approximately 200+ tribal schools in the United States. It is also one of the largest tribal schools to be funded by the Bureau of Indian Education.
Note: $2,000 incentive! Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, Chief Leschi School District is experiencing a busdriver shortage. In order to recruit the highest quality busdrivers, Chief Leschi Schools is offering this incentive for new hire busdriver employees who have not worked for CLS as a busdriver within twelve (12) months prior to their new hire date.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Transports students and other authorized persons safely to and from school, as well as on field, extracurricular, special and/or activity trips as authorized by immediate supervisor.
Operates schoolbuses under all types of weather conditions including but not limited to fog, rain, hail, sleet, snow and ice.
Services, inspects and cleans schoolbuses and related equipment and accessories as required by state, federal, and school policies, to include interior and exterior sweeping and washing, installation of fuel, oil, and coolant, and tire inflation.
Maintains control of student passenger safety.
Reports unsafe acts or conditions which require the attention of any person other than the driver.
Completes forms, records and reports as required by law and school policies.
Maintains coursework and a driver's training program as set forth by the State Superintendent of Public Instruction and the school.
Operates schoolbus in accordance with the laws of the State of Washington and policies promulgated by the Superintendent of Public Instruction.
Operates and services all schoolbus equipment and accessories, including but not limited to fire extinguishers, highway warning kits, first aid kits, and manually operated doors.
Performs basic first aid as appropriate, which may include cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Performs other duties as assigned.
