The Allendale County School District has an immediate opening for a School Bus Driver with a valid CDL license. The successful candidate will have experience driving a bus as well as working with children, and who has transported grade school-aged students to school in the past. Job Summary:
Drives a school bus safely and professionally, demonstrating proficiency in handling and maneuvering a school bus.
Transport children to and from school in the mornings and afternoons
Verify permissions for children who ride home with friends
Maintain a clean and mechanically-sound bus at all times
Obey all traffic laws
Performs and properly completes daily pre-trip inspections of the bus before and after each route
Prepares and maintains accurate reports assigned by the Transportation Supervisor.
Ensure safety of all students
Discipline children when required to maintain a safe and healthy environment
Assist students with getting on and off the bus when required
Other duties as assigned, and complies with all traffic ordinances.
Attends scheduled safety meetings/in-services conducted by district transportation personnel and/or state transportation officials at various intervals throughout each school year.
Reviews and complies with the specific requirements and responsibilities, which are outlined in the State Department of Education's School Bus Drivers Handbook.
Communicates in an appropriate fashion with students, parents, and employees.
Maintains and submits twice a year accurate R-16's, Seating Charts and Student Information List.
Maintains good discipline in order to ensure safe school bus operations.
Performs practice drills or actual emergency bus evacuations as required.
Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Principal.
Education and Experience:
At least 18 years of age. High school diploma or GED, valid driver's license and at least six (6) months licensed driving experience with a class D, E, F, or G license. Must have no more than four (4) points against driving record. License shall not have been suspended at any time in the previous five (5) years.
Physical examination required prior to initial certification and/or re-certification. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

ALLENDALE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT BUS DRIVER REQUIREMENTS - Applicants must not have more than 4 current points on their license or more than 4 points on their license in the previous 12 months - Applicants must not have had their license suspended in the previous 12 months for a moving violation - Applicants must not be taking Insulin by injection - All Applicants will be administered a pre-employment drug screening and must be able to pass a Department of Transportation Physical exam - Upon your application being approved by our Director of Transportation, applicants must take a 20 hour State bus driving class and pass a written test - Upon completing the FMCSA physical and passing the school bus driver class, applicants must go to the DMV with their physical card in hand and take 4 written tests. We will help prepare all applicants for these 4 tests with Study materials and CDL manuals. The 4 tests are as follows: 1. General Knowledge Test (50 multiple choice) 2. Air Brake Test (25 multiple choice) 3. Passenger Endorsement Test (20 multiple choice) 4. Federal ‘School Bus' Endorsement Test (15 multiple choice) - Upon passing these 4 tests, the candidate will be issued a Class ‘B' Commercial Beginner's Permit with ‘P' and ‘S' endorsements - Candidates must bring the new permit to the District Transportation Office. - Candidates will then be assigned a district driver/trainer and receive the actual ‘Behind The Wheel' driving training (Min. 20 hours) in preparation for the CDL tests and the State Department of Education bus driving certificate test. - Upon becoming completely licensed, applicants will meet with our Director of Transportation, to discuss employment.
Summary:
The Part-Time Field Trip Bus Driver is responsible for safely transporting students and staff to and from school-sponsored field trips, athletic events, and special activities. This position is scheduled on an as-needed basis and requires a strong commitment to student safety, professionalism, and reliability. This driver can be used as a support to fill in for a regular route when and if a regular bus driver is exchanged to serve as a field trip bus driver.
Conduct and document pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus.
Maintain order and ensure student safety during transport.
Communicate effectively with school staff, trip coordinators, and dispatch regarding schedules, route changes, and concerns.
Follow assigned routes and adjust as necessary for road conditions or safety considerations.
Report any mechanical issues, safety hazards, or incidents immediately to the Transportation Department.
Maintain cleanliness of the bus after each trip.
Attend required trainings, safety meetings, and certification updates.
Under occasional supervision, drives and operates a school bus to transport students safely over specified routes established by and assigned by the Transportation Supervisor.

Job Summary:
Supervise students on bus, maintain time frame, safeguard equipment and transport students to and from school on time and safely.
Essential Duties
Keep accurate records, time sheets and mileage reports, etc.

Cooperate with investigations of liability of accidents involving state owned school buses transporting students to and from public schools in Horry County.
Assist with details pertaining to pupil insurance coverage.
Establish and maintain a workable relationship with students and parents.
Keep equipment clean inside and outside.
Drive bus safely maintaining state and county guidelines.
Other Duties
The holder of a Commercial Driver's License must comply with Horry County Schools and Federal requirements pertaining to alcohol and controlled substances testing.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required)
Must meet the NCLB requirements for a paraprofessional which includes one of the following: Minimum of 60 college credit hours or an Associate's Degree or Paraprofessional certificate (Earned by scoring a minimum of 456 on the exam).
At least 18 years of age.
Have a valid South Carolina Commercial Driver's License (CDL) which must not have more than four (4) points against his/her driving record in the previous twelve (12) months. Drivers accumulating more than four (4) points after employment must be placed on probation, suspension without pay or terminated as deemed appropriate by the school district based on the nature and severity of the driving offense(s). Upon receipt of a ticket for DUI (drugs or alcohol), the driver will be suspended without pay and if the driver is convicted of a DUI, the driver shall be terminated.
School Bus Driver must maintain a current DOT Physical as determined appropriate by the district.
Satisfactorily complete the state school bus driver training course and receive a School Bus Driver's Certificate that will entitle the holder to operate a state owned school bus in the state of South Carolina for a period of one (1) year. The driver must complete 10 hours of module training each year to receive a new certificate.
Bus Drivers are required to take the School Bus Driver Physical Performance Test (PPT). The certification of ALL new school bus drivers will include PPT in conjunction with the behind-the-wheel training and testing.
Existing licensed/certified school bus drivers will be required to pass the PPT when they renew their CDL license (once every five years) and as a part of their interim behind-the-wheel assessment (occurring during the third year of license certification).
Proof of American Citizenship or Employment Authorization.
Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and reach with hands and arms and pull the emergency brake; walk; sit; stoop or kneel; crouch or crawl.

Must be able to drag 125 pounds 30 feet in 30 seconds;

Must be able to alternate quickly between the throttle and the service brake;
Must be able to open and close a manually operated bus service door;
Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus;
Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time;
Manual dexterity for the purpose of using a telephone and data entry;
Read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids;
Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; and
Speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone.

Job Summary
Under limited supervision, responsible for providing safe transportation of students to and from school and back to their homes.
Essential Job Functions
Operates a bus over a route which has been designated and approved by the Coordinator/Supervisor of Transportation and the State Department of Education. Follow assigned routes and adhere to set schedule.
Observes all traffic laws and safety regulations.
Maintains safety precautions when students are boarding and departing the bus.
Operates equipment in accordance with all state laws and regulations.
Report all accidents, vehicle damage and student injuries as they occur.
Discuss and conduct bus emergency evacuation drills and other safety procedures.

Purpose Statement
The job of School Bus Aide was established for the purpose/s of assisting special education students during transport to and from school and/or special activities; and ensuring the safety and sanitation of assigned vehicles.
This job reports to Transportation Director
Essential Functions
• Assesses potential emergency situations on the bus and within loading and unloading zones for the purpose of taking appropriate action to protect the well being of passengers.
• Assists students for the purpose of providing for special needs during transport, safe loading and unloading from buses including both emergency situations and normal transport.
• Attends meetings (e.g. classroom & behind the wheel training, inservice, safety, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or conveying information to perform job functions.
• Instructs students for the purpose of enforcing rules/regulations and maintaining safety.
• Monitors students for the purpose of preventing distraction to the driver or injury to themselves or other students/passengers.
• Monitors students with special needs until released to teacher, instructional assistant, parent/guardian etc. for the purpose of ensuring the students' safety.
• Reports observations and/or incidents (e.g. discipline, inappropriate social behavior, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to appropriate personnel.
• Secures students and/or equipment with restraints, tie downs (e.g. wheelchairs, seat belts, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the safety and well-being of students.
Other Functions
• Assists other personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
