Bus Driver Trainees are hired as a temporary employee while completing the 4-week training to obtain CDL Class B, passenger endorsement, airbrakes, and school bus endorsement. The temporary employee rate is $16.66 per hour, with a training maximum of 200 hours. Upon completion of training, the trainee may be offered a continuing position as a regular or substitute bus driver. The substitute bus driver will fill in for absent employees as needed. The duties will be to safely transport students to and from school and school-sponsored activities. Most work hours are approximately 5:45 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. The hours vary greatly according to the assignment. Drivers may be asked to drive at any time of the day.
