BUS DRIVER- FULL SIZED SCHOOL BUS REPORTS TO: Assistant Transportation Director/ Operations Supervisor ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE: The job of a school bus driver is performed for the purpose of improving student achievement by transporting students safely to and from school, and school-related activities; ensuring the school bus is in safe operating condition, managing student behavior and enforcing rules, regulations, policies and laws to ensure students safety during transport, loading and unloading. School bus drivers are responsible for safely and professionally operating a school bus over an assigned route (in all types of weather conditions including but not limited to heat, cold, rain, hail, sleet, snow, ice and fog). School bus drivers are responsible to abide by all the rules and regulations as provided by school policies and local, state and federal governmental agencies. Drivers must work with students, parents, staff, colleagues and others in a courteous and respectful manner.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: (to be included along with other responsibilities)
1. Pick up and deliver students as per set route and schedule.
2. Obey all traffic laws.
3. Observe all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
4. Be attentive to traffic and weather conditions while staying on schedule and ensuring the safety of passengers.
5. Transport only authorized students.
6. Pick up and discharge students only at authorized stops.
7. Check bus seats and floor, including under seats, for students after each trip.
8. Notify supervisor(s) immediately in case of mechanical failure or delay in more than five (5) minutes in scheduled deliveries or pickups; complete accurate reports as required.

10.Responsible for maintaining a safe environment within the school bus by enforcing rules of conduct and responding to emergencies using a variety of pupil management skills.
11.Report student misconduct according to established procedure.
12.Communicate with students, parents, staff and colleagues in a professional and courteous manner and present as a positive representative of the Worcester Public Schools.
13.Ensure assigned bus is clean and fueled.
14.Use two-way radio per established policies.

5. Pass all Criminal History Checks.
6. Pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination.
7. Pass a Worcester Public Schools pre-employment physical examination, along with a pre-employment drug and alcohol screenings.
8. Pass random drug and alcohol screenings through Worcester Public Schools.
9. Have a clean driving record.
10.Have no previous license suspension(s) for drug or alcohol related offenses.
