CSEA LABOR AGREEMENT ARTICLE 18 - TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT: 18.11.1 School Bus Drivers, Cover Drivers, and School Bus Aides will be assigned to a 189 duty day calendar, with a total of nine (9) prep days that will be eight (8) hours for all employees and shall not be a split shift. One of these prep days shall be used for the first bidding day as outlined in section 18.4. On day drivers and School Bus Aides shall be provided with time to travel the newly assigned route and prepare the assigned bus. Bus Driver - Senior Center Senior Center drivers are under the direction of the Recreation Leader IV and Program Manager. Bus driver responsibilities may include transporting of seniors to and from the Senior Center for lunch or activities; transporting of seniors on shopping trips or medical appointments; transporting of groups of seniors on Culture Caravan excursions. Implement emergency plan in the event of an accident; appropriately administer to the needs of the members on-board, administer first-aid, and complete accident report and documentation. Actively continue to complete annual classroom and behind-the-wheel bus driver instruction to meet all California state licensing requirements for valid CA School Bus Driver Certificates. 3. MAINTENANCE Complete daily all pre-and post-inspections for safety and security by documenting in BGCGSD vehicle logs prior to locking the vehicle and completing daily shift. Assist with transporting vehicles for regularly scheduled maintenance as requested by the Transportation Coordinator. Cleans assigned vehicles, both interior and exterior for the purpose of ensuring safety, appearance, and sanitation of the vehicle. Maintains fluid levels (oil, water, and fuel), check tire pressure, and signs of body damage. Advise the Transportation Coordinator of any requirements for maintenance or repairs. 4. SAFETY & WELLNESS Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all youth, staff, and visitors by consistently enforcing safety protocols and organizational policies. Be proactive in identifying and reporting any safety concerns or maintenance requirements to ensure a safe working environment for everyone. Participate in safety drills and contribute to ongoing risk assessment and emergency preparedness efforts. Nuview Union School District DEFINITION: Under general supervision to drive and attend to a school bus and transport students over designated routes in compliance with assigned schedules; and to do related work as required. In the position of Bus Driver the majority of driving is on assigned home to school bus routes and on a regularly scheduled basis. Inspects buses for mechanical and basic safety conformance prior to operation in accordance with written rules and regulations; drives buses over designated routes and ad hoc trips as authorized; supervises conduct of students being transported; picks up and discharges students; assists students on and off buses and escorts them across streets when necessary; maintains prescribed cleanliness levels to interior and exterior of the bus; prepares and completes required reports; performs other tasks as required to safely operate a bus in accordance with laws and district policies; administers first aid; performs other tasks/duties needed to complete core duties. QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of: * safe driving practices; * basics of first aid; * provision of the California Motor Vehicle Code and the Education Code applicable to the operation of vehicles in the transportations of students; * meet the physical, mental and environmental demands of the position. Ability to: * drive a school bus and other automotive equipment safely and efficiently; * maintain order among students on a school bus; * understand and follow oral and written directions; * establish and maintain effective working relationships with others including the public; * perform all duties in a safe and healthful manner so as to not cause a risk to self and others. Education, Training, and Experience: * Completion of twelfth grade or equivalent; * Successful completion of the California Highway Patrol examination for school bus drivers; * One year of experience in the operation of a bus; * Must maintain knowledge of safe operation by attendance at assigned in-service training sessions/seminars.
