Toyon Middle school, located between Valley Springs and San Andreas, services students in 6th - 8th grade. Calaveras High School, in San Andreas serves students in grades 9 through12 and includes an independent study program. Our alternative education programs are served through Gold Strike High School and Sierra Hills Education Center, in the community of San Andreas.

Under general supervision, to operate a school bus over designated routes to transport school children; and to do related work as required.
Qualifications:
1. Knowledge: Knowledge of safe driving practices; provisions of the California Motor Vehicle Code and the Education Code applicable to the operation of vehicles in transporting school children; first aid practices.
2. Ability: Operate a school bus exercising good judgement and extreme caution; maintain order among students on a school bus; learn a designated bus route, bus stops and district traffic hazards; follows verbal and written directions.
3. License: Possession of a valid State of California chauffeur's license and school bus driver's license.
4. Experience: Six months experience as a bus driver of a reputable transportation service, or one year of truck driving experience.
5. Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
Typical Duties:
1. Drives a bus daily over designated routes in accordance with time schedules, picking up and discharging school children.
2. Escorts children across streets stopping traffic when necessary.
3. Transports students and teachers on field trips to various locations, choosing the best route and making departure and arrival times as scheduled.
4. Cleans interior and windows and assists in maintaining bus in safe operating condition.
5. Maintains good order among students on the buses, following district policies regarding the discipline of children and contact with parents and other citizens.
6. Keeps records of mileage and prepares reports of driving hazards and incidents.
7. Inspects bus on a daily basis and before an extra curricular trip.
