SALARY RANGE: $30.75 - $33.83 USD PER HOUR Transit Operators are responsible for the safe operation of buses and transportation of passengers over assigned routes throughout Park City and Summit County during high-volume months. This position entails performing various related duties and specialized tasks as assigned, including Route Operations Coordinator, operator training, and paratransit operations. This is an at-will position. TYPICAL DUTIES: Responsible for safely and efficiently operating buses on designated routes during daily shift assignments throughout Park City and Summit County. Performs daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles following Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Transportation Administration (FTA) regulations and communicates safety concerns and maintenance needs verbally and in writing to the Fleet department to ensure the maximum safety of vehicles during operation. Performs basic vehicle maintenance on a daily basis, such as maintaining appropriate levels of fuel, radiator coolant, oil, and tire pressure and cleaning the interior and exterior of the vehicle, including sweeping/mopping the interior as necessary, searching for lost articles, and cleaning the windshield and windows. Delivers superior customer service and functions as an ambassador for the City through professional and courteous interactions with coworkers, the public, and transit system users while adhering to all City and departmental safety policies and procedures. Physically assists passengers boarding and unloading with different types of equipment, such as skis, bicycles, luggage, wheelchairs, etc., as requested. Complies with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements for transporting disabled passengers, such as announcing stops, offering assistance, securing wheelchairs and equipment, etc. As assigned, serves as the Mobility (Paratransit/Senior Service) Dispatcher position, which includes, but is not limited to, answering phone calls, taking reservations, scheduling rides, responding to passenger requests and concerns, monitoring the two-way radio traffic of paratransit operators, resolving on-route issues and scheduling conflicts, and makes necessary decisions required for the smooth operation of the system with excellent judgment and professionalism. Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be at least 21 years of age. Ability to pass and maintain the Department of Transportation (DOT) Physical Requirements. Safety-sensitive position requires mandatory and/or random drug and alcohol screenings. Ability to pass and maintain valid Class B Commercial Driver s License with passenger and air brake endorsements. Safe driver with a valid driver s license and no more than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years. No convictions for driving under the influence of alcohol or any drugs within the past 10 years. Able and willing to work day or evening shifts, weekends, and holiday shifts as assigned. Able to prepare legible written reports of incidents and accidents. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bilingual in English and Spanish. At least one winter season as a Transit Operator with Park City Transit. Working knowledge of Park City s transit routes and operations. Skilled and knowledgeable in the safe and efficient operation of multiple types and sizes of transit vehicles, including diesel and electric power plants, body-on-chassis vehicles, and low-floor transit coaches of varying lengths. WORKING CONDITIONS: The employee may occasionally be required to lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities are required for this job to maneuver and operate city buses and other vehicles safely. The candidate must also be able to read traffic signs, observe passengers, and operate a vehicle during day and nighttime conditions. The employee works near moving vehicles, machinery, & mechanical parts. Work is performed inside a bus and outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme temperatures day and/or night. Periodic/considerable exposure to stressful situations includes passenger questions, complaints, general transit operations, and City information inquiries. The noise level includes diesel engine and passenger noise, which is usually low to moderate. Non-traditional working hours, which include evenings and weekends. Full-time, Part-time Description Job Description We are currently seeking Full time and Part time drivers for our daily scheduled runs to Wendover Nevada from Salt Lake City. There will also be opportunities to fill in for other absent drivers or possible Charter trips to Wendover. These are set schedules, meaning you would have a regular set weekly schedule. What is the pay? Currently we have 2 pay rates. “Stay Trip” Flat rate pay $200 per trip. During these trips you would be picking up passengers at 4 locations in the SLC Valley then drive to Wendover and drop off passengers. You would then be off duty on layover for approximately 5 hours in Wendover. After your layover you would then load passengers and return to SLC Valley and drop off passengers at the same 4 stops you picked them up from. (Entire day start to finish with Off duty layover time is approximately 12 hours) “Turn Around Trip” Flat rate pay $170 per trip. During these trips you would be picking up passengers at 4 locations in the SLC Valley then drive to Wendover and drop off passengers.
