MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must hold a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) for a minimum of two (2) years.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience working with school bus drivers, including experience providing hands-on or behind-the-wheel training.
Demonstrated safe driving record.
High school diploma or equivalent.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Strong understanding of FMCSA Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) requirements, specifically the behind-the-wheel (range and public road) components.
Knowledge of school bus operations, safety procedures, state and federal regulations, and best practices for student transportation.
Ability to deliver clear, patient, and effective instruction to new drivers with varying levels of experience.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to support adult learners and maintain positive relationships with districts.

Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and safety at all times.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Lifting: Lifts/carries 10-50 pounds frequently, 50-60 pounds occasionally, more than 60 pounds infrequently with assistance.
Environment: Work outside and inside, around vehicles and exposure to extreme temperatures.
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress. Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential to the job.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Safely operate bus, follow routes, adhere to established schedules, and observe all traffic laws and safety regulations.
2. Instruct students on safe rules and regulations while on board, during the ride, on proper loading and unloading techniques and of crossing the street.
3. Report student discipline/behavior issues to campus administration and transportation.
4. Communicates with office staff and/or parents on issues which, for the student's benefit, require immediate attention.
5. Attend district training as scheduled and required.
6. Document all accidents, vehicle damage, student injuries and mechanical failures and complete all required reports.
7. Keep assigned bus clean and fueled, check for mechanical defects before/after each operation, and report needed repairs to shop.
8. Ensure proper condition of emergency equipment such as first aid and body fluid kits, fire extinguisher, reflectors, seatbelts, car seats, etc.
9. Operate Communication equipment to communicate with transportation office.
10. Perform thorough pre- and post-trip inspections of the school bus and submit related reports and forms.
11. Demonstrate good attendance and punctuality.
12. Ability to maintain confidentiality of privileged and sensitive information.
13. Aid in emergency response rescue in the event of natural or man-made disaster.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.
