POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for ensuring safe and timely transportation for company personnel between designated locations. With a strong emphasis on passenger comfort and security, this person must be committed to upholding all traffic regulations and daily inspection of the vehicles. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Perform a daily pre/post trip inspection on the vehicle assigned to you. Must be able to complete level 1 maintenance on the vehicle such as, replenishing oil, windshield wiper fluid, and fuel when needed.

Arrive at each shuttle collection point prior to a scheduled departure time.
Have strong abilities to manage passenger behavior for the safety of others and Crystal Mountain property while in transport.
Adhere to the passenger and load capacity for each shuttle vehicle
Convey passengers to and from predetermined pick up and drop off locations
Prior to departure, ensure that all passengers disembark safely with all their personal belongings before leaving to your next drop off/ pick up location.
Communicate with your supervisor on departure times and schedule
Attend required safety meeting and or training as needed.
Report general or driver related incidents to your supervisor
Report any mechanical issues or maintenance needs to your supervisor

Pay Range: Transportation Salary Schedule
All applicants for employment in positions requiring a commercial driver's license (CDL) are subject to pre-employment controlled substances and alcohol testing. District employees performing safety sensitive functions are subject to random, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, return-to-duty and follow-up testing mandated by the Federal Highway Administration (49 CFR Part 382) and district policy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Safely operate under all types of weather conditions a schoolbus on scheduled routes and/or on all types of trips in support of district approved activities, both within and outside the school district boundaries
Service, inspect and clean schoolbuses and related equipment as required by state and district policy and/or procedures
Operate and service all schoolbus equipment and accessories including but not limited to fire extinguishers, highway warning kits, snow chains, sanders, first aid kits, etc.
Perform required operational and safety inspections of the schoolbus and all related equipment
Maintain control of student passengers as related to safety
Report unsafe acts or conditions which require the attention of the Transportation Supervisor, the Dispatcher, shop personnel or other school district officials
Neat, clean personal appearance; work apparel should be appropriate to promote a professional and safe work environment
At all times, obey the laws of the State of Washington and regulations promulgated by the Superintendent of Public Instruction and State Board of Education regarding the operation of a schoolbus
Perform other schoolbusdriver related duties as directed by local school district policies, regulations and/or procedures
Communicate effectively, responsibly and accurately with students, parents, co-workers and other school district staff
Perform basic first aid as appropriate, which may include CPR
Legibly and accurately complete state and district forms, records, timesheets, trip requests, route studies, trouble reports, misconduct reports, accident reports, and other clerical type activities as may be required
Due to the characteristics of pupil transportation, must be available, reliable, flexible and adaptable to varying work hours and conditions
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and board policies
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be 21 years of age or older
Must have a minimum of five years driving experience and provide a bus driving abstract from the Department of Licensing
Successfully complete schoolbusdriver training programs and courses established by the State Superintendent of Public Instruction and/or the school district prior to employment
Must possess a valid Washington State SchoolBusDriver's Certificate or obtain upon employment which includes the physical, mental and training standards necessary to perform the duties, tasks and responsibilities of a schoolbusdriver as described. Interstate commercial driver's license (CDL) certification is required as of January 1, 2012
Must meet and maintain schoolbusdriver requirements set forth in WAC 392-144
Hearing capability must be sufficient to detect and distinguish traffic sounds occurring from any direction outside the bus, such as horns, whistles, sirens, trains, bells, etc., from a distance which will allow adequate time for defensive or evasive action to avoid a hazardous situation
Vision must be 20/40 in best eye, with or without correction; approximately 140 degrees peripheral, which as a single criteria shall not be excluding; and depth perception adequate to reasonably determine distance and closing rate of other moving vehicles from a stationary or moving schoolbus. Eye coordination to avoid diplopia; color vision must be adequate to distinguish the colors of red, green and amber of a traffic light
Ability to operate all hand and foot controls installed in a schoolbus as required by Washington State (minimum) SchoolBus Specifications
Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written work
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member and be able to project a positive, friendly and caring attitude toward others
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people through organizational skills and commitment to follow through on task
Must possess sufficient strength and agility to assist ill, injured or physically impaired students to enter or exit a schoolbus through the passenger service door and/or emergency exits as a normal routine, or when the bus has been damaged or has otherwise been rendered inoperable
Must possess valid first aid and CPR cards (or obtain upon employment) and be willing to keep cards current
Scores on district-administered achievement test that indicate appropriate skill and are consistent with established standards
Neat, clean personal appearance; work apparel should be appropriate to promote a professional and safe work environment
Must be able to uphold board policies and follow administrative procedures
EDUCATION:
Secondary school diploma or equivalent or prior job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
BusDrivers are exposed to outside climatic conditions during winter and summer months. Workers would be exposed to some chemicals and cleaning solvents. Noise level is considered average to above average when working in areas where children are present; average or above average for power tools and other maintenance equipment. The above conditions are not to a degree or length of time to cause marked discomfort or possible bodily injury to the worker. Operate schoolbus under a variety of road conditions.
Requires sufficient strength and ability to assist students with physical disabilities in embarking and disembarking a bus; including moving and positions any special needs equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* High school graduate or equivalent
* Washington State driver's license; Class B, CDL with appropriate endorsements
* Schoolbusdriver authorization (per WAC 392-144)
* First aid qualified American Red Cross or equivalent CPR, if required
* Successfully meet all requirements in Chapter 392-144 (drug, disclosure, fingerprinting)

The substitute schoolbus aide will fill vacant bus aide roles and may perform all or some of the responsibilities defined below.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Supervise student behavior on the bus to ensure safe travel for all students and passengers.
2. Assist students with mobility restrictions on and off the bus.
3. Assist in loading and unloading of wheelchair bound students.
4. Assist in properly securing wheelchairs.
5. Help students buckle up in car seats and make sure they stay buckled.
6. Ensure that students are wearing seatbelts and keep them buckled for the remainder of the route.
7. Attend, when necessary, to the needs of individual students.
8. Demonstrate a positive, caring and supportive attitude to students at all times; where appropriate, engage students in conversation.
9. Work together with the driver on issues such as safety and comfort on the bus and working with the driver to ensure students are transported safely and in comfort.
10. Maintain a neat and clean appearance when traveling on the schoolbus.
11. Cooperate with drivers in filling out report
12. Assist with management of children with special health problems, e.g. seizures.
13. Work cooperatively with parents and school staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must have a high school education or equivalent (GED).
2. Prior successful instructional experience and/or training working with disabled children preferred.
3. Must be able to maintain good rapport with students, parents, and co-workers.
4. Possess adequate health and physical strength to assist students by repetitive lifting, i.e., ability to lift 50 pounds. Must be able to exit the bus through rear exit door.
5. Must have or obtain first aid certification.
6. Must demonstrate willingness to learn and apply behavior management techniques.
7. Demonstrate ability to promote students' best interests through positive role modeling and student advocacy.
8. Willingness to be trained to provide support for children with special health problems as needed.
9. Must be able to work in a team setting.
