Maintain a valid driver's license
Be a minimum of 20 years of age
Have no record of a commercial motor vehicle moving violations, Reckless/careless driving offense, Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs (DUI), or a Suspended driver's license
Experience in child care or a school setting (preferable)
Responsibilities:
Provide safe transportation for children.
Ensures that vehicles are consistently clean and safe.
Responsible for the organization and daily set-up of the school-age classroom.
Delivering nurturing care and continuous supervision of assigned children, while executing the Crème curriculum, and maintaining classroom management
Creating, submitting, and implementing of approved lesson plans and curriculum, and completing Daily Reports.
Maintaining the upkeep of classrooms and equipment inside and outside.
Assisting children when necessary regarding dressing, toileting and/or diapering needs, and making sure all children have clean hands, face, and diapers.
Building positive relationships with and practicing open and honest communication with parents, Team Members, and Management.

Operates bus in such a way that road and safety regulations are always followed; reports any traffic violations to the Director immediately.
Ensures all children are in age appropriate child safety restraints at all times during transportation.
Follows safe bus loading and unloading procedures.
Follows procedures to guarantee no child is left alone on bus without adult supervision at any time, including insuring all children have departed bus at the end of all bus routes (morning, evening and during field trips or other special trips).
Keeps the bus clean and free of debris; follows other bus cleaning procedures.
Routinely inventories bus emergency and first aid supplies and equipment; reports needs to the Director, or delegated staff person.
Prepares children for bus drills and ensures bus evacuation drills are held at least monthly. And documents all drills in writing.
Assists in other transportation training of teachers, children and volunteers.
In case of accidents/emergencies, evacuates children according to written and practiced procedures.
In the event of an accident, assures that medical emergency procedures are followed; completes a written accident report as required by delegate's procedure and other authorities

Ability to pass an annual Wisconsin School Bus Driver's physical which includes a tuberculosis test and drug test

Duties and Responsibilities
Transports/escorts program participants to any location necessitated by programmatic needs
Delivers food to program sites
Picks-up and/or purchases supplies for program
Participates in implementation of program schedule, supervision of participants and provides for their safety and well-being to include immediate response to safety and security breaches in accordance with crisis intervention and program guidelines
Performs housekeeping duties such as cleaning, laundering and preparing meals, among other similar tasks, and monitors the safety conditions and overall cleanliness of the residential program.
Responds effectively and in a timely manner to unexpected situations and crises during transports such as transportation delays or vehicle-related emergencies, procedural failures, participant-related issues or concerns.
Provides status updates to supervisor when appropriate
Assists with routine maintenance and documentation of agency vehicles, such as cleanliness & organization, appropriate fuel levels, oil changes, placement of plates, city and safety stickers, and monthly vehicle inspections.
Completes all necessary documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
Participates and actively contributes to regular supervisory and staff meetings, training sessions, and other professional development activities as required.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or General Education Diploma equivalent is required.
A minimum of three (3) years' experience working with youth, in security-related roles, or the transportation sector is required.
Certifications/Licenses:
A valid driver's license is required.
A CDL License with a passenger endorsement is preferred and may be required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (K/S/A):
Fluency in a second language may be required.
Ability to read and write routine correspondence, staff communications and reports.
Ability to understand and follow instructions provided in oral, written or diagram/image form.
Demonstrated ability and willingness to apply common sense to any given situation.
Must have a clean driving record that complies with DCFS' requirements for drivers (including no convictions related to reckless driving and no license suspensions/revocations in the past three years, among others).
Must successfully pass criminal background check.
Ability and willingness to accompany program participants to appointments and outings regardless of their own personal beliefs and values.
Excellent communication skills. Strong networker, convener, relationship builder and communicator with experience collaborating with diverse work teams and stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information possessing skills to handle situations in a professional and diplomatic manner.
A high degree of collaboration and emotional intelligence, self-motivation, and analytical ability.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook/Exchange; Windows operating systems; and other software routinely used by Heartland Alliance.
Work Arrangement
Given the duties of this role, the Driver's job is ineligible for remote work.
Work Environment
Each YRS program site operates on a 24/7 basis, 365 days per year. To meet both the needs of our participants and contractual obligations, employees of YRS need to be flexible in regard to work location and scheduling, each of which may be altered by program management at any time. Employees must be willing to perform any relevant duty that may be required due to the needs of the program.
Three primary shifts are scheduled each day including weekends and holidays. Employees may be required to work any one of these shifts and, if necessary, may be required to work a split-shift, or an extended or shorter shift, based on the needs of the program.
All employees share responsibility for the cleaning and basic maintenance of our facilities.
The employee will be required to work at various YRS facilities as necessitated by program needs.
The employee may be required to remain on Organization premises during breaks and/or meal periods and may be required to stay on Organization premises until their replacement arrives.
Crisis prevention and behavioral management techniques may include using approved physical holds and physically escorting participants.
Physical Demands
May be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
May be required to walk and/or run in the event of an emergency or as needed to intervene in a crisis.
May be required, with proper training, to assist in physically restraining youth.
May be required to walk or remain standing for the majority of a shift.
