CORE RESPONSIBILITIES TRANSPORTATION
The Operations Associate will operate buses for scheduled pick-up and drop-off of students to and from school, as well as for school field trips. Duties will include:
Perform a daily pre-trip inspection to include fuel, oil, coolant and tire inflation.
Maintain control of student passengers as related to safety. Report unsafe acts or conditions, which may require the attention of the school administration.
Uphold and assist in enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and board policy.

Also clean the restrooms-all 3, clean toilets and sinks, keep toilet paper and paper towels full, take out trash, sweep and mop once a week. Also sweep through the entrance area and mop when needed. There will be a check off sheet to sign.

Busdrivers are to operate all types of schoolbuses safely under all types of weather conditions, including but not limited to: fog, rain, hail, sleet, snow, and ice. Transports students and other authorized persons on regular and special program “to and from school” routes and on field, extracurricular, and other extra activity trips as authorized by the school district officials.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position could include but not limited to the following duties:
Install, service, or replace schoolbus equipment, and accessories; including but not limited to: fire extinguishers, highway warning kits, first aid and mess kits, snow chains, etc.
Perform required operational and safety inspections of the schoolbus and all related equipment.
Clean and service the schoolbus to include interior cleaning and exterior bus washing; installation of fuel, oil, and coolant, etc. as per district procedure
Operate all hand and foot controls installed in a schoolbus as required by Washington State SchoolBus Specification.
Perform basic first aid as appropriate, which may include CPR.
Work effectively with a group of students bused together, of different grade levels, abilities, and/or program placement.
Legible and accurate completion of forms, records, time sheets, trip tickets, route studies, behavior reports, work requisitions, accident reports, daily and monthly log reports and other clerical-type as may be required.
Maintain regular and punctual attendance and adhere to assigned work hours and schedules.
Dress appropriately and wear proper foot protection (WAC 296-24-088) for the job.
Accept and respond positively to direction, instruction, and requests from supervisor or designee.
Establish and maintain effective and cooperative communication with students, parents, school staff, peers, administrators and supervisors.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
BusDrivers are exposed to outside climatic conditions during winter and summer months. Workers would be exposed to some chemicals and cleaning solvents. Noise level is considered average to above average when working in areas where children are present; average or above average for power tools and other maintenance equipment. The above conditions are not to a degree or length of time to cause marked discomfort or possible bodily injury to the worker. Operate schoolbus under a variety of road conditions.
Requires sufficient strength and ability to assist students with physical disabilities in embarking and disembarking a bus; including moving and positions any special needs equipment.

WAC 392 144 Requirements. Every authorized schoolbusdriver must meet the following initial requirements:
• Have at least five years of experience as a licensed driver of a passenger vehicle.
• Submit to a criminal record check according to chapter 400 RCW which shows that no offenses have been committed which would be grounds for disqualification of an authorization as listed in WAC 392-144-103.
• Satisfactorily complete a schoolbusdriver training course administered by an authorized
schoolbusdriver instructor.
• Meet all applicable continuing schoolbusdriver requirements in WAC 392-144-102.
Every authorized schoolbusdriver must continue to meet the following requirements:
• Have a valid driver's license or commercial driver's license, as required by law, issued by
the state department of licensing.
• Satisfactorily complete the annual schoolbusdriver in-service training course.
• Maintain current and valid training in a first-aid course accepted by the local school
district.
• Submit annually to the school district a disclosure of all crimes against children or other
persons and all civil adjudications in a dependency action or in a domestic relation action and all disciplinary board final decisions of sexual abuse or exploitation or physical abuse as required by RCW 43.834(2) and disclosure of all convictions which may be grounds for denial, suspension, or revocation of authorization under WAC 392-144-103.
Every authorized schoolbusdriver must continue to meet the following physical
requirements:
• Is physically able to maneuver and control a schoolbus under all driving conditions.
• Is physically able to use all controls and equipment found on state minimum specified schoolbuses.
• Is physically able to perform daily routine schoolbus vehicle safety inspections.
• Has sufficient strength and agility to move about in a schoolbus as required to provide
assistance to students in evacuating the bus. The driver must be able to move from a seated
position in a sixty-five passenger schoolbus, or the largest schoolbus the driver will be
operating, to the emergency door, open the emergency door, and exit the bus through the emergency door, all within twenty-five seconds. A school district may develop and implement an alternative assessment of physical strength and agility. The alternate assessment must be submitted by the
school district superintendent for review and approval by the superintendent.
• Provide a copy of a current and valid medical examiner's certificate to their employer.
Substitutes are employed at will. The District may inactivate a sub from the active sub list at any time, with or without cause or notice and can cancel or deny substitute assignments. A substitute can remove themselves from the active sub list with or without notice and can cancel or deny substitute assignments. No assignment, employee manual, reference guide, board policy, reasonable assurance, other document or oral communication shall be deemed to create an employment contract or to modify the at will relationship. No person other than the School Board has the authority to bind the District to an employment contract or an agreement to modify the at- will relationship.
An active listing on the sub list does not guarantee an assignment. If a reasonable amount of assignments are not worked within a 12 month period a substitute may be inactivated with or without notice.

* Maintain regular and punctual attendance and adhere to assigned work hours and schedules.
* Dress appropriately and wear proper foot protection (WAC 296-24-088) for the job.
* Accept and respond positively to direction, instruction, and requests from supervisor or designee.
* Establish and maintain effective and cooperative communication with students, parents, school staff, peers, administrators and supervisors.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
BusDrivers are exposed to outside climatic conditions during winter and summer months. Workers would be exposed to some chemicals and cleaning solvents. Noise level is considered average to above average when working in areas where children are present; average or above average for power tools and other maintenance equipment. The above conditions are not to a degree or length of time to cause marked discomfort or possible bodily injury to the worker. Operate schoolbus under a variety of road conditions.
Requires sufficient strength and ability to assist students with physical disabilities in embarking and disembarking a bus; including moving and positions any special needs equipment.

* Submit annually to the school district a disclosure of all crimes against children or other
persons and all civil adjudications in a dependency action or in a domestic relation action and all disciplinary board final decisions of sexual abuse or exploitation or physical abuse as required by RCW 43.834(2) and disclosure of all convictions which may be grounds for denial, suspension, or revocation of authorization under WAC 392-144-103.
Every authorized schoolbusdriver must continue to meet the following physical
requirements:
* Is physically able to maneuver and control a schoolbus under all driving conditions.
* Is physically able to use all controls and equipment found on state minimum specified schoolbuses.
* Is physically able to perform daily routine schoolbus vehicle safety inspections.
* Has sufficient strength and agility to move about in a schoolbus as required to provide
assistance to students in evacuating the bus. The driver must be able to move from a seated
position in a sixty-five passenger schoolbus, or the largest schoolbus the driver will be
operating, to the emergency door, open the emergency door, and exit the bus through the emergency door, all within twenty-five seconds. A school district may develop and implement an alternative assessment of physical strength and agility. The alternate assessment must be submitted by the
school district superintendent for review and approval by the superintendent.
* Provide a copy of a current and valid medical examiner's certificate to their employer.
Substitutes are employed at will. The District may inactivate a sub from the active sub list at any time, with or without cause or notice and can cancel or deny substitute assignments. A substitute can remove themselves from the active sub list with or without notice and can cancel or deny substitute assignments. No assignment, employee manual, reference guide, board policy, reasonable assurance, other document or oral communication shall be deemed to create an employment contract or to modify the at will relationship. No person other than the School Board has the authority to bind the District to an employment contract or an agreement to modify the at- will relationship.
An active listing on the sub list does not guarantee an assignment. If a reasonable amount of assignments are not worked within a 12 month period a substitute may be inactivated with or without notice.
