School bus drivers pick up and drop off students along established routes. They may also transport students and faculty to special events, such as field trips or sporting events which may include nights or weekends. School bus drivers are typically employed during the school year (approximately 180 days) working split shifts of mornings and/or afternoons.
The bus driver is an extension of the school system. Each driver is considered a public relations agent of the school system and should provide safe, courteous, and reliable service.
Qualifications:
Driver must have a Wisconsin driver license with an “S” endorsement
Have sufficient use of both hands and the foot normally used to operate the foot brake and foot accelerator correctly and efficiently per Wis. Statutes 343.12
Meet the physical/medical standards for a school bus endorsement
Ability to read maps and follow written and verbal geographic directions
No felony convictions for offenses that will result in disqualification for obtaining an “S” endorsement
Drivers must complete a physical examination at the beginning of employment, and as required by the Motor Vehicle Department for renewal of license and each year beyond the age of seventy (70) years. The Board of Education also reserves the right to require a special medical examination at any time

Immediately report any bus malfunctions or needed repairs, and deliver the bus to the service garage for all authorized repairs
Immediately report any accident to the Director of Transportation and report delays or other traffic and transportation situations
Prepare and submit reports that may include student discipline reports, time logs, fuel use, and daily mileage logs
Be attentive to traffic and inclement weather conditions
Attend meetings, programs, and in-service training as assigned or requested
In case of any unforeseen disaster, take full responsibility to evacuate the students and move them to a secure place
Follow District policies and procedures related to the transportation program

Practices and adheres to appropriate safety and hygiene guidelines/procedures for safe housekeeping and personal protection; keeps work area clean; stores supplies in designated areas; identifies/reports defective equipment; reports all job-related injuries to supervision.

Drive daily fixed routes for the transportation of children to/from the center.

Report all vehicle problems to the regional manager and obtain authorization before repairs are scheduled.
Schedule regular maintenance of vehicle(s) to ensure vehicles are in proper operating condition and meet all highway and Head Start safety regulations.
Clean the vehicle regularly to maintain sanitary conditions.
Complete pre-trip inspection before each trip daily.
Maintain a current list of passengers and take daily attendance.
Maintain accurate daily and monthly records and submit as required.
Maintain the cell phone system by reporting any non-reception areas to the regional manager and limiting usage to transportation needs.
Participate in center and bus monitoring for safety and compliance.
Participate in family staffing when applicable.
Must support center during major transitions to ensure child safety and supervision.
Must follow break schedule created by supervisor.
Serve as a liaison between ICAA Head Start and Head Start families.
Participate in general cleaning of the center.
Attend staff meetings and trainings

Kenosha Transit is seeking bus drivers to work a part-time schedule driving middle and high school students on City shuttle buses during the public school year. Work is performed Monday through Friday. No work is scheduled during weekends, during the summer public school break, established school holidays or when students do not report (teacher workdays). Your contributions will include:
Conduct pre- and post-trip equipment inspections on semi-tractor and trailer at beginning and end of shift.
Thoroughly and securely hook up and unhook trailers as required.
Safely and accurately load and unload all products while adhering to all safety measures, regulations and standards of all customers, company, and terminal operators.
Operate semi-truck to and from locations while adhering to all local, state and federal transportation regulations and traffic laws.
Safely operate bulk fuel dispensing equipment to underground (gravity drop) as well as above ground (pump off) fuel tank systems.
Accurately operate the dispatching and logging programs of electronic devices/tablets.
Prepare and complete all necessary paperwork for deliveries.
