Key Responsibilities: Safe Transportation: Safely operate a paratransit van equipped for wheelchair and/or gurney transport, ensuring the well-being of passengers during transit. Client Assistance: Provide necessary assistance to clients during boarding and exiting, including securing wheelchairs and gurneys according to best practices and safety regulations. Professional Conduct: Exhibit a courteous and professional demeanor with clients, families, and healthcare professionals, maintaining confidentiality and respecting the dignity of all passengers. Timely Service: Adhere to scheduled pick-up and drop-off times, ensuring timely transportation for medical appointments and other essential services. Vehicle Maintenance: Perform routine checks on the vehicle to ensure it is in safe working order, including checking fuel levels, tire pressure, and cleanliness. Report any mechanical issues promptly. Emergency Response: Act quickly and calmly in emergency situations, providing first aid or contacting emergency services as needed. Compliance: Follow all local, state, and federal regulations related to paratransit operations, including those specific to the transportation of individuals with disabilities. Qualifications Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required. Valid Class C California Driver's License with a clean driving record. Experience in driving large vehicles is highly desirable. BLS Provider Card from American Heart Association Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong commitment to providing compassionate care and assistance to individuals with disabilities. Ability to pass a background check and drug screening. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and maneuver heavy equipment, such as wheelchairs and gurneys, and assist clients with limited mobility.
