DUTIES:

Reports to the Director of Student Support.

Administer comprehensive psych educational assessments that address the areas of suspected disability.

Write comprehensive and professional reports on assessment results that provide recommendations for services and supports to address areas of concern.

Participate in 603 CMR Team meetings as an evaluator to help determine special education eligibility.

Work in collaboration with school adjustment counselors, principals and other staff members. Provide professional development to staff on topics relevant to special education and school psychology.

Solid knowledge and experience in the development and implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans

Consult and assist teachers in working with students.

Experience in the completion of Functional Behavior AssessmentsParticipates in the School Based Medicaid SystemPrepare documentation according to the SPED mandates
Input SPED documentation on the IEP database program

QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's Degree from an accredited college or university.

Certified as a School Psychologist by the Massachusetts Department of Education.

Licensing as an Educational Psychologist by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Allied Mental Health is preferred (all levels).

Prefer three years, on a full-time basis, as a psychologist dealing with problems of children of school age. One of these years should have been in a school setting. A year of suitable internship experience may be counted toward the three year requirement.

Proven ability to work effectively with/for children and adults in a multi-cultural community.

Empathetic to the needs of young people and adults in the area of special needs. Bilingual is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities
You will perform all of the duties of a school psychologist utilizing a hybrid service model consisting of traditional in-person services and telepractice services.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Administering and interpreting tests to evaluate intellectual, academic, behavioral, adaptive and/or social/emotional behaviors. Observing referred students in school or community environments. Conducting referral and follow-up activities. Participating in educational planning, eligibility, and/or determination of placement meetings. Participating in the development of Individual Education Programs, as needed or requested. Conducting functional behavioral assessments, and participating in manifestation determination meetings and behavioral intervention development as needed or requested. Communicating and conferring with district/local education agency/agency personnel, parents and students. Conferring and consulting with staff and the student to determine the student's current level of performance or developmental history. Maintaining records, writing letters, answering correspondence, and writing reports. Participating in staff development activities and/or other meetings. Reviewing, evaluating, and recommending assessment instruments. Traveling to schools or other educational-based sites. Maintaining and submitting records to Supervisor on Program operations as requested. Performing other related duties delegated by the coordinator/supervisor Adhering to policies of the district and procedures of the department and/or section. Conducting parent conferences. Acting as a resource person.


Expectations
You will work 160 hours/month for full-time employees. You will work from home approximately 3 weeks per month. You will travel up to one week per month to be on-site in your district in Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Wyoming, Montana, or California. Some placements travel much less than this and some placements have no travel. You will have a personal computer with teleconferencing capability. You will have consistent and reliable high-speed internet access for teleconferencing. You will be an active member of the Hello Foundation community, including attendance at events and regular participation in discussions via our intranet.

Compensation

B. Experience Desired:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:


• Performs initial and reevaluation referrals for psychological and educational testing for children preschool through high school; complete necessary written reports within 48 hours of the scheduled eligibility meeting;


• Works closely with teachers, parents and administrators and assisting with developing behavioral management strategies and classroom modifications;


• Performs Individual Education Plan (IEP) counseling as appropriate;


• Serves as team member on all eligibility meetings; attends child study meetings as requested by child study chair and parents; attends IEP meetings as requested by administrators, teachers and parents;



• Conducts training and staff development in areas related to school psychology for teachers, administrators and parents when requested;



• Serves as Family Assessment and Planning Team school representative- responsible for staffing ½ of school cases; case staffing includes completing CAFAS profile, UM review forms, family service planning chart and attending monthly meetings;



• Be available for counseling and intervention during times of crisis (to include, but not limited to, the death of a student or staff member);



• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Pupil Personnel.


• Conducts an annual “Child Find” which includes community awareness and screenings in the areas of hearing, vision, cognition, adaptive, and motor development. This is coordinated with the Head Start program and the Health Department. Collaboration with Head Start on “Child Find”, programming, and transitioning.


• Member of the Local Advisory Committee. Informs members about the Early Childhood Program and the “Child Find” activities.



• Serves on the Coordinating Council for District 19 Infant Program in Petersburg, Va. which meets quarterly. Serves on a yearly committee. Performs such other duties and assume such other responsibilities as assigned by the building principal, or designee.
