JOB GOALS:

Student eligibility for - or entitlement to - special education programming shall be based upon appropriate information, including but not limited to psychometric and observational data, consultation with administrators, teachers and parents, and research on the relative effectiveness of intervention strategies and programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Clinical Neuropsychologist is a specialist applying knowledge of brain anatomy, physiology, and pattern in order to assess brain function in medical patients. This specialized consultant may see inpatients and outpatients. Their assessment of brain function is used in collaboration with other medical data to make diagnoses (e.g., dementia, developmental delay). The Neuropsychologist also specializes in using data analysis to make recommendations regarding educational services/supports, decisional capacity, discharge environment, supervision needs, patient/family education, and return to school/work. The Neuropsychologist performs pre-surgical cognitive and psychosocial assessments in patients awaiting epilepsy surgery, deep brain stimulation, cochlear implant and other Neurologic interventions.
Adult Neuropsychology: Works with patients age 14 years and over from a variety of specialty clinics (e.g., Movement Disorder Center, Dementia Clinic, Multiple Sclerosis Clinic, Headache Clinic) as well as general medical populations across all hospital services.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Doctorate Psychologist must be a graduate of an approved, accredited school and be licensed to practice psychology in all of its branches in the State of Illinois.
* A valid and current license to practice clinical psychology issued by the Illinois Department of Professional Regulations
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Pediatric psychology position:
* Prefer candidates with experience in conducting evaluations with preschool-age through older adolescent populations within a medical setting.
* Expertise evaluating and monitoring pediatric hematology/oncology patients is preferred.
* Experience with developmental evaluations of infants and toddlers and/or presurgical candidacy evaluations is a plus.
* Have completed a two-year fellowship program in Neuropsychology
* Board Certified or eligible in Neuropsychology, or a pending application of licensure if in the probationary period of employment.
