As a School Social Worker, you are primarily responsible for helping students in Grades K- 12 succeed academically, socially, and emotionally, through individual and group counseling and by collaborating with educators, parents, and other professionals to create a safe, healthy, and supportive learning environment that strengthens connections between home and school.
‖ Responsibilities Include:
Providing individual and group counseling sessions to address interpersonal or family issues that interfere with school performance, including crisis intervention consultation and/or family therapy as needed.
Maintaining all required paperwork including but not limited to communication logs and meticulous notes regarding all services provided to students.
Conducting interviews with students, family members, and school personnel to gather information required to assess student social, emotional and behavioral adjustment to school and the community.
Maintaining regular contact with students' parents/guardians to inform of student's progress, areas of difficulties, and any changes or situations in home life that may affect school performance.
Developing and updating Individualized Education Plans (IEP) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) as needed in adherence to the company, school, state and federal regulations and procedure.
Attending and participating in IEP team meeting, facilitating at the discretion of the school districts.
Actively participating in other team meetings when necessary to address specific student and parent concerns.
Collaborating with education and social services professionals (for example wrap- around, probation officers, court systems) to develop appropriate agency services for students and their families.
Providing case management functions for students, which include but are not limited to, coordination of parent meetings, emergency transportation requests, and coordination with therapists outside the school setting.
Collaborating and consulting with teachers, parents/guardians, district personnel, and service providers to find effective solutions to learning and behavior problems; always establishing and maintaining effective public relations and projecting a positive company image.
Ensuring the use of positive social skill teaching methods by conducting monthly direct observation of classroom staff's implementation of IEP goals and/or Behavior Intervention Plans/ Treatment Plans.
Providing guidance, consultation, and assistance to teachers in the development of classroom schedules, maintenance of student data systems and facilitation of student transition plans to assure appropriate schedules and services based on each student's Individual Education Plan (IEP) and/or other applicable goals.
Assessing student progress through consistent review of classroom data collection and recording systems and providing applicable training and guidance to classroom staff accordingly in addressing student behavioral needs.
Conducting crisis assessments and contacting the appropriate authorities if needed to ensure that emergency intervention is provided to students.
Keeping up to date with research-based practices and developments in subject area.
Responding constructively to formal and informal feedback.
Performing other duties as assigned.
‖ Qualifications Required:
Master's degree or higher in social work, educational counseling, therapy or a closely related field of study.
Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining an IL professional educator license (PEL) school support personnel endorsement.
Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) credential.
Ability to obtain and maintain certification in company approved crisis management (PCM) training.
Prior experience and/or knowledge in special education services and compliance, particularly for students with severe learning disabilities, emotional disturbance and/or behavioral disorders.
Well-versed in applied behavior analysis (ABA) including positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS), functional behavior analysis (FBA) and behavior intervention plans (BIP's).
Proven success in developing and implementing effective intervention plans for students with diverse needs, preferably in an alternative, special education and/or behavioral health program setting.
Proficiency in providing motivation and having critical conversations with students that help move them toward realistic goals.
Ability to think and act quickly and calmly in an emergency and make independent decisions.
Advanced oral and written communication, instruction, curriculum, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem solving, and decision making ability.
Well-versed in the use of relevant technology including experience with computers, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry and basic office equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The 2018 Summer School Program will begin on June 18 and will continue until July 19, 2018. Psychologists will work 5 hours per day or as needed dependent on IEP minutes to be met, Monday Thursday. Attendance is mandatory at all professional development sessions scheduled on June 13 & 14, 2018.
Location: Whittier
Responsibilities:
* Participate in the identification and solution of school problems;
* Develop/evaluate IEPs and BIPs;
* Consult with the classroom teacher to help the teacher better understand and work with particular classes of students;
* Communicates effectively with administration, other staff members and parents;
* Attend and participate in IEP meetings;
* Complete necessary paperwork according to district, federal and state policy;
* Effectively intervenes in a crisis;
* Perform other duties assigned by the Special Education Coordinator/Administrator.
Qualifications: Must hold Illinois Type 73 Psychologist License
Salary: Psychologist will be paid a stipend of $35.00 per hour. Federal and State withholding will be taken from the amount earned. Absences or tardiness will result in decreased amount as indicated in this job description.
Additional Information: Failure to fulfill these duties and responsibilities may result in dismissal from the program. No more than two days can be missed without jeopardizing dismissal and termination of the contract unless extenuating circumstances prevail.

* Conduct preliminary and comprehensive psycho-educational studies to appraise the social, emotional, behavioral, and educational status and needs of children referred for school psychological services or for additional supports, such as a 1:1 paraprofessional, which may require an observation form to be completed;
* Make recommendations to school personnel pertaining to: the management of pupils in the school environment; educational adjustments to meet the needs of children (levels of instruction, methods, materials, remedial services, etc.); and placement of exceptional children in special education classes and programs;
* Assess and communicate the results of psycho-educational diagnosis to school personnel and parents through conferences, staffing, and written reports;
* Facilitate all initial and re-evaluation IEP meetings (with the exception of Speech and Language - Only and OT/PT);
* Attend annual meetings in which a change of placement (more restrictive), in district or out-of-district, is being considered;
* Create "save as" documents for IEP amendments;
* "Unfinalize" IEPs upon the request of a case manager in order to make modifications;
* Assume the role of LEA Representative upon request of the Principal for initial and re-evaluation IEP meetings;
* Provide follow-up services to determine to what extent recommendations have been implemented as well as to appraise the efficacy of recommended changes;
* Participate in in-service programs, formal and informal, to help school personnel; (a) recognize the needs and problems that children experience; and (b) deal appropriately with the needs and problems of individual children and groups of children;
* Work with parents to help them understand the needs and problems of their children and manage their behavior in a constructive manner;
* Participate in efforts to improve the mental health climate of the schools, and contribute to the solution of psycho-social-educational problems such as drug usage, truancy, racial conflict, suicide, depression, anxiety, drop-outs, social skills, etc.;
* Function as a member of building level RTI teams, grade level teams, and individual problem solving teams in order to contribute to a multidisciplinary approach to pupil management;
* Participate in research projects that pertain to the learning and adjustment of pupils;
* Participate in public relations activities in order to promote the acceptance, support, and use of school psychological services;
* Maintain lines of communication with various outside agencies that provide child and family services and make appropriate referrals;
* Provide support, instruction, technical assistance, and ongoing monitoring of progress toward measurable, identified goals for students at individual, group, or systems level;
* Providing support, training, and technical assistance during the data analysis and progress monitoring process for staff and parents;
* Serving as a consultation leader in the building during the RTI process;
* Providing consultation on legal and ethical concerns that arise in the building during the RTI and special education process;
* Providing consultation and developing prevention programs that are consistent with the RTI academic and behavior model;
* Involvement in data analysis and evaluation, using data outcomes for implementing plans at an individual, group, or systems level;
* Observe, consult, assess, and give feedback on the fidelity of classroom instruction and intervention implementation;
* Participate in crisis intervention efforts in the building and district level;
* Keep abreast of new information, concepts, and developments within the field of school psychology in order to update one's knowledge and functional skills;
* Implement best practices in the area of school psychology which include actively participating in the IEP process;
* Identify the area(s) in need of additional assessment and data collection;
* Provide a quality explanation of the eligibility process to parents;
* Summarize the procedural safeguards and evaluation results;
* Perform such other duties as may be assigned by either the Coordinator of Psychological Services or the Special Education Director of Programs and Services.
