Employment Standards
Training and Experience:

advanced training and specialized in-depth knowledge in the areas of pupil personnel services concepts and procedures, dynamics of individual behavior, counseling theory and procedures, measurement theory and procedures, education and career planning, research methodology, remedial and special education, laws relating to children and youth, the organization and function of pupil personnel services in the schools; knowledge of community educational resources and related services available to students.
Abilities:
ability to work harmoniously and effectively with students, parents, regular and special education teachers, administrative personnel, classified staff, and outside agencies and professional staff; skill as a psycho-educational diagnostician; ability to communicate effectively in written reports as well as in oral presentations and conferences; bilingual in Spanish preferred.

The KIPP Public Schools Northern California Special Education Team is seeking a School Psychologist to help children and youth succeed. As a School Psychologist at KIPP, you will be an integral member of the Special Education team. You will report to and work under the supervision of the Lead School Psychologist in conducting assessments, engaging in consultation with schools and families, and providing direct services to students.
As a School Psychologist, you will be primarily responsible for the following areas:
Assessment
Assessment reports. Prepare comprehensive and legally defensible psycho-educational assessments of specific learning, emotional and behavioral disabilities; interpret assessment findings for staff, families, and other authorized persons as necessary.
Positive behavior supports. Perform functional behavioral assessments (FBA) and Special Circumstance Instructional Assistance (SCIA) assessments to assist in the development, evaluation and monitoring of positive behavior intervention plans for students in special education.
Student mental health. Conduct assessments in order to evaluate social/emotional development and mental health status of special education students.
Eligibility. Identify students with disabilities by assessing student characteristics including cognitive and perceptual abilities, emotional adjustment, adaptive behavior, language development, learning potential and social needs utilizing non-discriminatory tools.
IEP Meetings. Serve as a member of a multi-disciplinary IEP team and present assessment findings during IEP meetings.
Consultation & Systems Level Work
General education teachers and staff. Consult with teachers in the development and implementation of classroom methods and procedures designed to facilitate student learning and to overcome learning, social-emotional and behavior challenges.
Parents & Families. Consult with parents and family members to assist in understanding the learning and adjustment processes of children.
School leadership. Serve as a resource to school leaders in areas related to instructional strategies, school attendance, discipline, student social/emotional needs and child abuse recognition and reporting.
Multi-Tiered Systems of Support. Participate with other faculty and staff members to design and promote tiered interventions and supports to address students who are at-risk.
Professional Development. Participate in School Psychologist and/or Mental Health Community of Practice meetings at various locations.
Direct Service
Case Management. Work collaboratively with the student's multidisciplinary team to develop daily programming and interventions that will meet each student's educational, mental health, and behavioral needs.
Therapeutic and Behavioral Interventions. Create and implement therapeutic interventions and behavior support plans for the purposes of fostering better mental health and positive learning environments for students.
Crisis Intervention. Provide crisis intervention, assessments, and triage of students as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications:
Must hold a Master's degree or higher in School Psychology.
Must hold a clear California Pupil Personnel Services Credential with School Psychology Authorization.
Minimum of one year successful internship as a school psychologist.

These include depressive disorders, bipolar disorder, disruptive mood dysregulation disorder, suicidality and self-harm, and emotional dysregulation, as well as comorbid problems such as anxiety, substance use, exposure to trauma, and executive functioning deficits. The center includes our comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) program for children, preadolescents, adolescents, and young adults. Clinicians work intensively with children, parents, and teachers, and utilize a wide range of evidence-based intervention approaches, including CBT, DBT, Behavioral Activation, mindfulness-based interventions, and Behavioral Parent Training (BPT) tailored for individuals with mood disorders. The fellow will have the opportunity to participate in all facets of our multidisciplinary group practice.
Reporting to the Senior Clinical Psychologist, this is a full-time and exempt position in office 4 days per week and 1 day remote.

The staff in the San Francisco Bay Area Office includes leading clinical psychologists, social workers and mental health counselors. Center staff regularly collaborates with pediatric neuropsychologists, child and adolescent psychiatrists, and child and adolescent psychologists and other staff from our multidisciplinary clinical team. You Will:
Conduct semi-structured clinical assessments and diagnostic evaluations for children, adolescents, young adults, and families presenting with mental health concerns.
Provide evidence-based treatment, including but not limited to cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and behavioral interventions for mood disorders, emotional dysregulation, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), anxiety-related disorders, selective mutism, and comorbid conditions, in individual and group formats.
Co-treat and collaborate with clinicians in multidisciplinary teams and specialized treatment programs.
Participate in educational didactics, multidisciplinary case conferences, clinical meetings, and the Visiting Professor lecture series.
Engage in comprehensive supervision, including at least one hour of individual supervision per week and additional group supervision.
You Have:
PhD or PsyD degree from an APA-accredited program in clinical psychology, school psychology, or counseling psychology.
Full completion of doctoral degree by the beginning of the postdoctoral fellowship.
Successful completion of a pre-doctoral internship.
Flexibility to work hours including afternoon / evening hours to accommodate school schedules.
