State of Georgia: Teachers Retirement System of Georgia school psychology specialist job description

This posting will be used to fill multiple School Effectiveness Specialist in Georgia. (Macon, Augusta and Atlanta)

Under the direction of the Program Manager, the School Effectiveness Specialist provides specific coaching support for principals, assistant principals, leadership teams, instructional coaches, department chairs, and teachers to develop capacity in improving leadership and instruction. This position will be responsible for assisting a portfolio of schools in developing, implementing, and monitoring a comprehensive plan to improve instruction for all students.

Additionally, this position will monitor progress of each school through on-site school visits and online through platform. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Assisting schools and systems in the implementation of the Georgia Standards of Excellence and the adopted state content standards;

* Assisting in planning school/system improvement based on the use of qualitative and quantitative data;
* Planning and providing professional learning based on school and system needs and priorities;
* Building the capacity of school personnel to develop professional learning communities focused on school improvement;
* Conducting coaching sessions with each school in person and online through an electronic platform; and
* Monitoring the progress of each assigned school through an electronic platform

Regional travel and some statewide travel are required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in education or a related field from an accredited college or university AND five years of related experience OR Bachelor's degree in education or a related field from an accredited college or university AND seven years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:

* Experience working as a Principal or District Office Leader;
* Masters degree in education, education administration, or a related field; and evidence of at least five (5) years of increasing leadership roles in a K-12 setting; experience as a successful classroom teacher;
* Located within 50 miles of one of the locations; ( Metro Atlanta, Macon, and Augusta.)
* GaPSC professional educator certificate in educational leadership at level L-5, L-6, or L-7;
* Education Specialist degree or higher;
* Experience successfully coaching both new and experienced teachers;
* Experience at the district or state or RESA level in school improvement;
* Experience working with district and/or school level professional staff with a focus on instruction (Math and/or Literacy/ ELA) and/or leadership;
* Strong knowledge base of best practices in leadership and standards-based instruction;
* Demonstrated success in team building;
* Experience in data analysis and the organization and implementation of major school initiatives;
* Experience working with adult learners;
* Strong work ethic, self-directed, and self-motivated; and
* Knowledge of state and federal guidelines, including Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)
