Convent & Stuart Hall company history timeline

1887

Schools of the Sacred Heart San Francisco was founded in 1887 and is one of more than 150 Sacred Heart schools and colleges in 41 countries around the world, each with its own educational model while embracing unifying Goals and Criteria.

1894

Utilizing 40 acres of land purchased in 1894 from the Faxon Dean Atherton family, campus construction began with the iconic Main Building, housing both classroom and living space for student residents and RSCJ alike.

1927

With enrollment continuing to grow, the Religious decided in the spring of 1927 to construct a new school building at 6250 North Sheridan Road, which remains the heart of our campus.

1929

In September 1929, a few boys joined the student body.

1935

In 1935, Reverend Mother Rosalie Hill established the elementary-only Hardey Preparatory School for Boys, named in honor of Mother Aloysia Hardey, one of the first and most influential American-born Religious of the Sacred Heart.

2004

In May 2004, a 33,000-square-foot academic wing, known as Sheridan South, was dedicated by Francis Cardinal George.

2006

The school opened in 2006 and currently educates boys in grades Pre-Kindergarten – 9th.
