SUMMARY
The responsibilities of the Manufacturing Technician position include maintaining high sanitary standards throughout the preparation, set-up, and operation of the designated jobs, while meeting the high-quality manufacturing specifications within a safe work environment. The Manufacturing Technician will be a driver of continuous improvement in all department and organizational results, including but not limited to; Safety, Quality, Appearance, Reliability and Cost. Operators advancing to Manufacturing Tech III will to continue to conduct the responsibilities learned during Tech I and II while attaining and building on leadership skills. Individuals attaining Tech III will responsible for both team and personal performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES REQUIRED: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Operate and monitor assigned machine(s) to detect product defects and/or machine malfunctions.
Troubleshoot issues related to product quality, formulation and machine performance.
Perform job duties within the established quality control guidelines of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
Complete all job related documentation accurately and timely.
Maintain high sanitary standards of cleanliness of work space, equipment, and materials at all times.
Perform cleaning duties of workspace to maintain sanitary conditions before, during, and after processing a new job.
Produce products that are defect-free, properly identified, and within the established standards of the master batch record.
Utilize hand tools, power tools, pallet jacks, and other tools as required to perform essential job duties.
Notify Supervisor or Manager if any discrepancies arise, such as but not limited to: safety, quality, operations, or health concerns.
Knowledgeable in general mathematics and basic algebra.
Follow the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines at all times.
Flexibility in assigned work schedule to meet business needs.
MANUFACTURING TECHNICIAN
Review and begin building knowledge of required SOP and cGMP guidelines for position.
Operate assigned machine(s).
Maintain a clean and safe workspace.
Build partnerships through team work and communication.
Completion of the training guide requirements.
Operation, assembly, and disassembly of assigned machine(s).
Accurate documentation is required.
Ability to independently troubleshoot minor machine malfunctions, product defects, and formulation complications.
Knowledgeable in safety policy and lockout/tagout procedures.
Perform quality verification (e.g., weights, visual inspections, etc.)
Complete all established Technician I requirements within a 24 month period.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Associates must have the capability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, in addition to having effective written and verbal communications in English to meet training, safety and quality requirements.

What You Will Do:
Under the direction of the Extrusion Manager, the Extrusion Tech II is responsible for overseeing the running of extruders and punches on the shift, setting the dies, completing documentation, and maintaining process parameters to ensure the manufacturing of quality products.
Essential Functions
Coordinate with the Technicians regarding work priorities for the department
Coordinate all work instructions with the Technicians, including machine setup, material needs, downstream needs, packaging etc., to maintain machine efficiency
Set parameters for the machines by following the set-up procedure sheet. Ensure that all data sheets, scrap records and Q/A documentation are used and completed.
Must ensure that all processes are running efficiently, and at the standard production rates or above that are listed on the work orders
Troubleshoot machine problems to maintain the production of a quality product. Report any machine repairs, needs, etc. to maintenance or the department manager
Understanding of extrusion and punch processing
Read and interpret shop orders.
Monitor the extrusion process including temperature awareness
Visually inspect product for quality and take necessary measurements
Maintain a clean and safe work area.
Perform grinding function as needed.
Required Personal Protective Equipment worn at all times during shift
Success in this role will require:
Ability to operate, when needed, all Extruders and Punches
Ability to access and use MES software.
Starting/stringing up parts for production runs: being able to properly start extrusion/punch machine and properly get parts to a production state.
Ability to see flaws in the production run and make proper adjustments on equipment to produce a quality part.
Adhere to production quality standards
Ability to understand and use Process Sheets to setup, start, and put into production any and all extruded product.
Ensure that all process parameters are maintained within the specification limits.

Actively participates in Lamb Weston Safety and Good Manufacturing Practice programs.

Performs all Daily Management System standards per schedule to include CILs, FSILs, CLs, and Defect Handling.
Operates cohesively with additional Line 1 PackagingTechnician team members in management of the Line 1 packaging area; Including but not limited to all job functions from the L1 transfer room, frozen and Bio-Print sorters, L1 Ishidas, Lambpaks through the case sealers, and the interstitial room through the Palletizer.
Engages in scheduled AMD activities.
Forklift driving, with dry supply and wooden pallets to the line.

Daily sanitation includes basic housekeeping of packaging room area.
Basic & Preferred Qualifications
Education/ Certifications:

The manufacturing technician works closely with Maintenance, Engineering, and Production teams to support continuous improvement and reliable manufacturing processes.
Essential Functions:
Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair automation systems supporting plastic injection molding machines.
Support and maintain industrial robots, including basic programming, setup, and adjustments.
Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals.
Diagnose and resolve issues related to electromechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
Perform preventive maintenance on automated equipment to ensure consistent uptime and performance.
Assist with automation startups, changeovers, and process improvements.
Identify root causes of automation and machine failures and recommend corrective actions.
Ensure automation systems meet safety, quality, and production standards.
Document maintenance activities, repairs, and system changes as required.
Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams to optimize automation performance
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
I. Education and certifications
Required: High School Diploma
Preferred: Technical degree or certification in Automation, Robotics, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, Electro Mechanical Technology, or Automated Manufacturing Systems.
II. Work experience
Required: Prior training or hands-on experience in robot programming (3-axis cartesian and 6-axis robots (ABB, Fanuc, kuka), collaborative robots(UR).
Preferred: Experience troubleshooting mechanical systems, heating circuits, servo motors and Mechanisms. Experience with plastic injection molding automation (part removal, conveyors, vision systems, EOAT).
III. Job skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills; effective teamwork and organizational abilities
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and proactively
Ability to meet project schedules, along with contingency plans within budget

Complete written reports to include: process control chart, pallet tags, production reports, compression tests, drain weight, daily disposition sheet, housekeeping checklists, and labels with code date information.
