This position is Monday through Friday and will work occasional overtime on nights and weekends; schedule may include holidays. This position is located in **Columbus, Ohio** with the expectation to move to **West Jefferson, OH.** **Responsibilities** + Work projects may include but are not limited to: + Working with hazardous biological materials in Biological Safety Level 2 (BSL-2) laboratory + Supporting in vivo pathogenicity/efficacy/toxicology studies + Participate in the development, validation, and/or qualification of equipment and biological assays + Ability to execute study protocols, methods, and SOPs + Ability to work independently and efficiently in a team environment + Decontaminating equipment and materials + Willing to handle toxic materials + Maintaining appropriate documentation + Perform assays such as ELISA, nucleic acid isolations, quantitative PCR, cell viability, etc. + Maintenance and optimization of mammalian cell cultures, including complex in vitro models (e.g., organoids, microphysiological systems). + Recognize when technical operations deviate from accepted practices. + Read SOPs, methods, facility guidelines, etc. used in workplace in a timely manner and adhere to these procedures. + Use proper techniques to operate necessary equipment to produce high quality data. Operate routine computer programs and perform basic data manipulation in a spreadsheet environment. Set up, validate, and operate laboratory equipment and software. Ensure that all equipment used for studies is routinely maintained and/or calibrated. + Perform experiments using ratios, percentages, linear regression algorithms, and other basic mathematical and scientific principles. + Ensure that the proper solutions are prepared, that solutions and reagents are not beyond their expiration date, and that the proper paperwork is maintained. Be responsible for ordering reagents, supplies, and equipment. Organize, clean, and maintain the facility laboratories in accordance with GLP and ISO guidelines. + Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of theory behind applications and ability to troubleshoot if needed. + Maintain a good work attendance record and be punctual for all project work. + Adhere to all laboratory safety requirements. **Key Qualifications** + Associate's degree in Biology or Biochemistry or related field; 1 year experience. + Strong written and oral communication skills. + Must be a US citizen. + Ability to obtain/maintain DoJ Security Risk Assessment (SRA) approval. + Ability to obtain/maintain CDC approval to work with BSAT material. + Must be willing to work in a biosafety level 2 (BSL2) and able to wear appropriate respiratory protection. + Must be willing to participate in random drug screening. + Respond appropriately to various alarms and potential emergency situations. + Sufficiently medically fit to do work in a lab wearing appropriate respiratory equipment and perform all assigned duties. + Ability to work night, weekend, and holiday hours. + Newly hired employees are subject to a 90 day Introductory Period, during which their performance is evaluated by supervision. **Preferred Qualifications** + Bachelor's degree in Biology or a related field; 2 or more years of experience. + Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience with, knowledge of, and/or training in FDA Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) + Preference will be given to candidates with experience manipulating mammalian cell cultures and conducting 96- or 384-well plate-based assays. **Benefits: Live an Extraordinary Life** We care about your well-being, not just on the job.     This position supports the planning and delivery of a comprehensive, professional fisheries management program within the assigned geographic area. Working closely with the Field Unit Supervisor and Senior Fisheries Biologist, this role assists with biological surveys, data entry and analysis, and preparation of technical reports. Responsibilities also include supporting stream and lake habitat projects, land management and access development, equipment and facility maintenance, public outreach and education, and coordination of limited-term staff.
