Your Role

Clinical Quality Analytics team is looking for a Senior Medical Informatics Analyst who has hands on experience on data analysis, research and programming using SAS from various data sources (flat files, relational databases, other SAS datasets etc.) using Base SAS. The Senior Medical Informatics Analyst will report to Data Analysis Manager. In this role you will process and analyze data to support Blue Shield of California Clinical Quality goals including HEDIS, MEDICARE STARS, MCAS measures, etc.

Your Work

Conduct independent analysis of high complexity under moderate supervision and guidance, develop novel analyses and reports

Develop documentation and create and execute workplans for analyses of high complexity

Design, build, and enhance data applications / repositories so to support specific reporting requirements

Maintain ETL data processes supporting HEDIS and other clinical quality reporting efforts

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute scientific informatics analyst job description

The Informatics Analyst, Pathways Operations will be responsible for supporting the development and execution of disease-specific clinical decision support algorithms collectively known as Dana-Farber Pathways. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Pathway Operations, the Informatics Analyst, Pathway Operations will partner with department and clinical experts to manage the end to end content lifecycle for a limited number of average to moderately complex clinical focus areas. This includes but is not limited to the analysis, development, maintenance, and tracking of clinical content. This role will work closely with other divisional Informatics Analysts to ensure the appropriate expertise and support is incorporated on a project-by-project basis. The role we lead cross-functional teams of indirect resources, including directing the work of user and/or business representatives within workgroups.

This is a Hybrid role with 2-3 days on site in Boston Longwood Medical Area and employee must reside in MA, NH or RI.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works with subject matter experts to complete literature reviews and extract pertinent information from clinical practice guidelines to support new pathway development and ongoing maintenance. Partners with Pathways Data Management Team to extract and compile data from a variety of clinical and administrative applications across the institute to support new pathway development and ongoing maintenance. Completes moderately complex clinical workflow analyses and documents current and future state processes to support new pathway development and ongoing maintenance. Works with department process modeling subject matter experts to draft moderately complex business process, case management, and decision models in knowledge management system based on information collected through literature reviews, data extraction, and workflow analyses. Works with department process modeling subject matter experts in preparation for process mapping workshops. Leads workshops with clinical subject matter experts and makes updates to moderately complex business process, case management, and decision models. Work directly with Dana-Farber Pathways Data Management Team to ensure pathways models are being built using industry standard ontologies and frameworks (ex: SNOMED, HL7 FHIR). Manage all aspects of moderately complex pathway development projects including team communications, timelines, signoff, scope changes. Adhere to recognized project management tools and methodologies. Write and maintain detailed documentation of requirements and project communications. Independently identify and resolve moderately complex issues and facilitate appropriate escalation of more complex issues for timely resolution. Communicate status on various project/program management efforts to leadership and internal stakeholders and manage expectations as appropriate. Participate in regular team meetings to discuss team project/program related activities, issues, changes, and communications as needed. Help promote optimal use of pathways and knowledge management system across the institute, including utilization of advanced features and adherence to best practices. Collaborate on development of internal documentation and end-user training materials. Build strong relationships with internal and external knowledge management system customer base. Utilize Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's values to govern decisions, actions, and behaviors. Actively participate in and support team culture.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Strong technical skills including analysis, design, and testing. Attention to detail, customer service orientation, and proven ability to perform work accurately and efficiently. Ability to be flexible, versatile and adaptable in activities conducted in a multi-site environment. Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with staff of different skill sets, backgrounds and levels within and external to the organization, including both technical and non-technical personnel. Self-motivated and capable of working independently. Knowledge of clinical care processes across disciplines and across the care continuum. Skilled in using and/or supporting electronic medical record systems (ie. Epic, Cerner, Meditech). Skilled in using Confluence, JIRA Software, JIRA Service Management, and JIRA Align. Skilled in using enterprise business process modeling applications (Trisotech Digital Modeling Suite, RedHat Decision Manager, Camunda Modeling Suit).

Minimum Experience:
Required: 3 years of direct work experience as a clinical business analyst, clinical applications analyst, clinical
informatics analyst, or clinical data manger in a healthcare setting. Experience managing project
teams, including clinician team members required.
Preferred: Experience developing and implementing clinical decision support logic in IT systems; modeling
business processes (BPMN, CMMN, DMN); using query tools such as SQL and/or SAS; using data
visualization tools such as Tableau and/or Power BI. Oncology experience strongly preferred.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred; concentration in Biostatistics, Clinical Epidemiology, Clinical Informatics, Health Information Systems; Nursing, Pharmacy and/or other healthcare related field strongly preferred.
License/Certification/Registration:
EpiCare Ambulatory/Inpatient, Beacon, Beaker, Bridges, Radiant and/or Willow certification preferred.
