About Our Team:
The Geothermal Research Department is an organization that delivers unique solutions for customers who require components and systems capable of operating in harsh and often high-temperature environments. The historical mission of the department was to address technology needs related to the development of geothermal energy (a baseload renewable energy resource); in particular accessing, monitoring and engineering of geothermal resources in subsurface geologic environments. This mission continues, but the capabilities of the organization have also been leveraged to address other issues of national importance. Current activities are broad in scope and require the efforts of multidisciplinary technical teams with expertise in mechanical engineering, drilling technologies, electronics, geosciences, materials, sensors, and explosives/propellants.

Position Responsibilities:
* Provide daily detailed forecast for night operations.
* Work with current onsite weather sensors and provide recommendations for improved site instrumentation and visualizations.
* Interpret and validate numerical weather prediction data (GFS, ECMWF, HRRR, NAM, others) and proficiently communicate the results to decision-makers.
* Assist in the development and documentation of weather requirements for telescope operations.
* Analysis, modeling, and interpretation of Adaptive Optics systems
* Model development of complex optics and optical systems.
* Evaluation and verification of optical systems performance and design.
* Perform analysis of meteorological data, write technical reports, and maintain a climatology database for the site.
* Conduct experiments with small telescopes and meteorological equipment.
* Observation and interpretation of real time digital weather radar and GOES satellite data.
* Understand relevant weather statistics and prediction indicators.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
* Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or other natural science discipline
* 2+ years of experience with data analysis of large datasets
* 2+ years of experience with computer programming in MATLAB, LabVIEW, Fortran, Java, Mathematica or C++
* 2+ years of experience forecasting meteorological parameters

About Our Team
The Geothermal Research Department is an organization that delivers unique solutions for customers who require components and systems capable of operating in harsh and often high-temperature environments. The historical mission of the department was to address technology needs related to the development of geothermal energy (a baseload renewable energy resource); in particular accessing, monitoring and engineering of geothermal resources in subsurface geologic environments. This mission continues, but the capabilities of the organization have also been leveraged to address other issues of national importance. Current activities are broad in scope and require the efforts of multidisciplinary technical teams with expertise in mechanical engineering, drilling technologies, electronics, geosciences, materials, sensors, and explosives/propellants.

Qualifications We Require:

A Post-Doctoral research position is currently available in the laboratory of Dr. Andrew Mayer at the Mind Research Network in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Post-Doctoral Fellow will conduct independent research in the field of traumatic brain injury, assist other members in the lab with research projects, and develop novel research methods as needed. The Post-Doctoral fellow will also work directly with research teams within the Mind Research Network as well as with outside collaborators, develop proposals for research funding, present and publish research data, analyze and interpret a variety of preclinical and clinical data, and perform all other related research duties as required or assigned.
Research opportunities include examining the cognitive and neuronal dysfunctions associated with both acute and chronic traumatic brain injury. Ongoing neuroimaging work in the lab include functional MRI (fMRI; task, rest and cerebrovascular reactivity), MRS, structural data, simultaneous real-time fMRI-EEG, neurofeedback and diffusion. Proteomic data analyses and opportunities for data collection are also available. Primary responsibilities will consist of scientific manuscript writing and data analysis. The Post-doctoral researcher will be responsible to select and apply appropriate statistical tests, algorithms, and/or analytic methods. Training in grant writing is available, as well as the opportunity to participate in NIH proposal preparation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in analytic processing (Linux, Python, R and shell scripting preferred) and neuroimaging software packages (AFNI, FSL).
