The (Senior) Principal Process Development Scientist will serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for the development of new processes for the synthesis of API or API candidates at both the Detroit and Riverview manufacturing facilities. The incumbent will help with all activities in the Chemical Process Development department to ensure that timelines, specifications, cGMP requirements, and the other terms of contracts are fully respected. Provide technical expertise at the request of the Director/Senior Director and other departments and employees. Interact with the other departments of Ash Stevens, Inc. The Accelerator Physicist will contribute to the development and operation of the FRIB accelerators by undertaking projects and activities to improve facility performance as measured by beam quality, intensity, power, purity, and variety. These activities will focus on enhancing the performance of FRIB and providing planned availability of primary beams on target and secondary beams for experiments, primarily by applying AI/ML techniques. Working/Functional Title Fundamental Symmetries Scientist Michigan State University operates FRIB as a user facility for the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science (DOE-SC), supporting the mission of the DOE-SC Office of Nuclear Physics. As one of 28 DOE-SC user facilities, FRIB provides researchers with one of the most advanced tools of modern science to study rare isotopes, or short-lived nuclei not normally found on Earth. Position Expectations: Responsible for most aspects of case management/project management with senior oversight. Prepares technically accurate, complete and concise work plans based on evaluation of site data needs. Performs or manages the implementation of project work plans including staff briefing, scheduling, subcontractor coordination and sample collection. Evaluates, analyzes and interprets technical data relative to project-specific goals, creates and interprets accurate data display graphs and figures, completes basic fate and transport analysis, and identifies data gaps and data needs leading to development of a Conceptual Site Model. Works with and mentors junior staff to ensure all resources are in place for proper fieldwork and reporting execution. Develops and manages budgets, evaluates budget vs. plan and analyzes cost control efficiencies. Communicates with clients, third party and regulatory agents regarding project status, schedules and compliance issues. A Bachelor's degree or higher in Geology, Environmental Science or related discipline. 1-5 years of related experience. Experience must include hands on field and office based in environmental consulting field. Case management experience on retail petroleum and/or industrial projects preferred. Must possess excellent communication and technical writing skills and be able to independently prepare a complete deliverable report with a focus on QA/QC. Must have working knowledge of IL environmental regulations. Experience associated with environmental permitting that includes natural resources inventory, wetland delineations, species assessments, and environmental sampling (chemical and biological) is a plus.
