Summary
The Associate Center Director (ACD) and Division Chief of Physical & Quantitative Sciences at Moffitt Cancer Center (Moffitt) is a newly-reimagined, senior academic leadership role responsible for driving center-wide, transformative research innovation in artificial intelligence (Al), machine learning, mathematical oncology, bioengineering, biostatistics, and bioinformatics in oncology. The ACD of Physical & Quantitative Sciences provides high-level strategic leadership and administrative direction for academic research that is focused on quantitative, computational, bioengineering, artificial intelligence, and machine learning scientific initiatives. Specific activities include leadership and coordination of the four academic departments in the Division, including appointment of Chairs and Vice Chairs; oversight of the Division Appointment, Promotion &Tenure (APT) Committee; establishment of search committees for faculty recruitment; and annual review of space for faculty needs. This position provides shared oversight of Research Programs involving the Division of Physical & Quantitative Sciences and partners with the ACD of Shared Resource Management on services that are aligned with this Division. The ACD collaborates with Senior Leadership in research strategic planning and evaluation. As supervisor of the Assistant Center Director of Research Informatics, this leader also oversees research informatics. Finally, the ACD fosters dissemination of scientific findings that have a high impact on the community, Moffitt's catchment area, and beyond.
It is anticipated that the administrative duties of this leadership role will require 25% effort, whereas research, teaching and service will comprise 75% effort. These allocations are not fixed, however, and will be reviewed and refined each year in collaboration with the Cancer Center Director.
Minimum Education :
Systems biology, bioengineering, biomathematics, biostatistics, bioinformatics, machine learning, Al, quantitative sciences, computer science, or a related field.
May be a PhD, MD/PhD, DrPH or other doctoral-level position.
Minimum Experience Required
Terminal degree in a field of specialization. Faculty appointment in an academic institution who has achieved the rank of at least an Associate Member/Associate Professor is required. A minimum of 8 years in academic rank, with at least 5 years of leadership experience at a Cancer Center or university setting is required. Track record as a peer review-funded scientist is required.
