Continuation of employment is contingent upon availability of funds. The individual in this position will support a multi-state grant project focused on breeding for intercropping systems. The person is expected to take a leadership role in a project involving Oat-Pea intercropping. In addition, he/she will be expected to pursue independent avenues of research and may develop their own projects, within the scope of the lab's mission. Essential Functions Essential Functions include the following: * Develop or assist in the development of complex project proposals, plans, and protocols. * Conduct non-routine experiments, investigations and/or studies related to programs and projects in pursuit of new knowledge, techniques and concepts. * Coordinate or assists logistics of research to include equipment, materials, and labor needs. * Collect data/samples related to others' research and in complex cases. * Record, compiles, process and analyze data/samples. * Documents results and observations in writing as well as presenting results to others. * Expected to publish peer-reviewed research articles and to present at conferences. * Supervise undergraduate research assistant schedules and activities. * May instruct/advise graduate students and/or supervise others' research in area of expertise. * May maintain project budgets and/or coordinate funding.
