RESPONSIBILITIES:
Bring your enzyme library design toolkit to Bluestem to head up enzyme improvement approaches

Manage external experiments by working closely with our network of contract research organizations (CROs) to ensure successful execution and high-quality data delivery
Find the signal in the noise! Analyze and interpret large datasets from high-throughput enzyme screens and implement iterative improvements

Transfer optimized enzymes and protocols to the strain engineering team for integration into production hosts

REQUIREMENTS:
Ph.D. in Protein Engineering, Enzyme Engineering, Computational Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or a related scientific field, and 3+ years of hands-on industry experience
Demonstrated proficiency in modern protein and enzyme engineering techniques, including both computation approaches (e.g., AlphaFold, AI/ML-based design methods) and library design (e.g., directed evolution, rational design, saturation mutagenesis)
Experience managing workflows and projects with external partners or contract research organizations (CROs) is highly preferred
Familiarity with high-throughput screening (HTS) methods, enzyme activity assays, analytical methodologies, and selection-based screens

a) Grade Point Average 2.95 or higher out of a possible 4.0 as recorded on your official transcript or as computed based on 4 years of education or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of curriculum; OR 3.45 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on the average of the required courses completed in your major field or the required courses in your major field completed during the final 2 years of your curriculum.
2. GS-9: You must have completed 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree:

Tax Law Impact for PCS: On 22-Dec-2017, Public Law 115-97 - the "Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017" suspended qualified moving expense deductions along with the exclusion for employer reimbursements and payments of moving expenses effective 01-Jan-2018 for tax years 2018 through 2025. The law made taxable certain reimbursements and other payments, including driving mileage, airfare and lodging expenses, en-route travel to the new duty station, and temporary storage of those items. The Federal Travel Regulation Bulletin (FTR) 18-05 issued by General Services Administration (GSA) has authorized agencies to use the Withholding Tax Allowance (WTA) and Relocation Income Tax Allowance (RITA) to pay for "substantially all" of the increased tax liability resulting from the "2018 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act" for certain eligible individuals. The Cognitive Affective Neurodevelopment in Youth (CANDY) Lab at the Institute for Human Neuroscience at Boys Town National Research Hospital is hiring a postdoctoral research fellow. The position is up to 3 years in duration. Expertise in developmental neuroscience, neuroimaging, and statistical modeling is essential. Applicants with a strong interest and prior experience in autism, early adversity, puberty, and/or mental health-focused research will be given preference. The postdoctoral fellow will take a lead role in data analysis, manuscript preparation, and dissemination of findings. There will also be opportunities to shape future projects, contribute to grant writing, and build an independent research program.
Our current projects focus on effects of child adversity on puberty and neurodevelopmental risk for psychopathology (using MEG and MRI), autism and puberty, and a new line of research leveraging dense sampling to track hormonal fluctuations and neural dynamics.
