GENERAL DUTIES
Produces Images of Desired Quality:
Accomplishes all positions that are related to each procedure without error and applies immobilization devices for patient comfort. Selects proper technique factor and produces images of desired quality. Responsible for processing film, producing no artifacts that will cause deficiencies in the results. Produces subtraction print and/or film duplication upon request, without error in a timely manner. Ensures that all film and records pertaining to the procedure are transferred to the archival system within (1) hour upon completion of exam. Performs calibration test to satisfy density factors and to meet correct specifications prior to utilization that guarantees no discrepancies in the results. Performs proper warming up procedures in a manner that will not result in damage to equipment. Understands and applies Radiation Protection procedures daily to eliminate excessive radiation to the patient and other individuals in the room. Responsible for individual radiation exposure not exceeding standards set by the National Committee on Radiation. Demonstrates borders on all images and uses collimation devices to eliminate excessive radiation.
Assists in delivery of care and accepts responsibility of authority:
Arms the syringe and assists the physician in the delivery of contrast media without error. Arms the injector for delivery of contrast media, has a general knowledge of the injector, and is able to identify malfunctions and corrective action. Recognizes life threatening situations and acts accordingly to assist members of the health care team. Questions all female patients of child-bearing years for possibility of pregnancy. Transports patients as necessary and transfers patients to the table without patient complaint. Assists in the use of a variety of equipment or procedures not routinely taught. Accepts Lead Tech responsibility in their absence and performs in a manner that will not produce any complaints. Assists and evaluates students and support personnel in their activities to insure proper care is provided without deficiencies in the film quality and/or complaints. Summary:
The Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) is responsible for conducting and overseeing a wide range of laboratory tests across multiple disciplines, including chemistry, hematology, microbiology, immunology, and blood banking. This role ensures the accuracy and reliability of diagnostic results, participates in quality control and regulatory compliance, and plays a key role in laboratory management and policy development. CLS professionals work in hospitals, reference labs, and healthcare facilities, ensuring that laboratory operations meet state and federal regulations.
Essential Work Functions:
Perform complex laboratory tests and interpret results across various lab disciplines, such as blood bank
Oversee and validate test results, troubleshoot discrepancies, and approve diagnostic reports before release
Operate, calibrate, and maintain sophisticated lab instruments and automated analyzers
Ensure compliance with AABB, CAP, CLIA, FDA, and other regulatory standards, actively preparing for audits and inspections
Conduct advanced immunohematology testing, including antigen identification and antibody identification
Develop and implement laboratory policies, procedures, and quality assurance programs
Assist in training and mentoring lab staff
Supervise lab personnel, assign workloads, and provide performance evaluations as needed
Maintain accurate records of laboratory findings, quality control measures, and instrument maintenance
Communicate critical results to physicians and healthcare providers in a timely manner
Investigate transfusion reactions and other serologic discrepancies, providing timely and accurate reports
Make technical decisions regarding specimen suitability, troubleshooting, and protocol modifications
Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice

What You'll Do

Performs initial review of data
Supervise and prepare new controls, calibrators and reagents for GC/MS and /or LC-MS/MS
Supervise and prepare documentation of QC validation results; as needed
Assist with training of new employees
